Nero - Devil May Cry 4 - Image 1Speaking to gaming news blog Riottt, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Producer of Capcom's Devil May Cry 4, revealed that Nero's Devil Bringer was implemented in Devil May Cry 4 as a means for developers to spice the gameplay up. Kobayashi reasons that they felt that they "reached the limit of what you can do with swords and gun action games" So a third action, the Devil Bringer, was there to change things up and make something new.

As to the reason's Why Dante doesn't get the Devil Bringer or something similar, Kobayashi had this to say:

Actually, I wasn’t aware of it until recently, but tests were done with Dante using The Devil Bringer, but when the team actually tried it, they realized that Dante with The Devil Bringer is just simply not Dante.

It was also revealed that Dante will appear in the game as one of Nero's enemies, but then will eventually become a playable character. Since they intend that this fourth installment be a new start for the series, they feel that placing Dante as a support character instead of the main character is nice means of using him and keeping things fresh.

When asked why Ugly people can't be heroes, Hiroyuki Kobayashi jokingly points out that even Kratos has some degree of good looks to him. Seriously though, he clarifies that since Devil May Cry is a "stylish" game they try to make the main characters as "cool" as possible.

Finally, for those who are eager to make comparisons between the different console versions of the game (PS3 and Xbox 360) Kobayashi is already warning that there are some output differences in each console.

Kobayashi says that "brightness and color output varies between the PS3 and the Xbox 360." Worry not though, as he does reassure that the team is planning on making sure that the output on either console is as similar as possible.

Thanks for holding us back, now instead of pushing our graphics and lighting even further, damn xbots hold the PS3 back once again. At least we need only 1 disc on games instead of changing out cds LOL

How is the 360 holding the PS3 back? Only the uneducated ignorant fools on forums think that way because they don't know any better. Last gen, the PS2 and GC didn't hold the XBox back, they simply had worse versions of multiformat games compared to the 360. Therefore this gen, if the PS3 is as powerful as YOU think, then it should have the best version.

Besides, 360 games have more memory available to them compared to PS3 games, because the PS3 requires 84MB for the OS and video memory, compared to just 32MB for everything on the 360. The 360 also has a slightly more powerful GPU, so by your twisted dumb logic, the PS3 must be holding the 360 back graphically!

Idiot!

 » Agreed Game123!

What we have are a number of gamers in denial who would do anything other than admit that the two consoles are very similar in terms of power (like the devs say). Therefore they cling onto any excuse to explain why the PS3 isn't blowing the 360 away. Hence they claim the 360 is holding the PS3 back, despite ALL the evidence to the contrary.

For multi-format games last gen, the weaker systems had the worse graphics and performance (often the PS2 and GC) and the most powerful systems had the best graphics, framerate and performance (usually the XBox and PC). And regarding disk space, the GC only had 1.5GB mini-DVD disks and yet that didn't effect the PS2 or XBox versions on DVD.

So these gamers are really dumb. The 360 isn't holding the PS3 back, it could only hold ITSELF back, just as the PS2 and GC did last gen. In otherwords, the 360 version should be the worse version if what they think it true, and if it isn't or you cannot tell the difference, then that's because the 360 and PS3 are practically the same in terms of overall power.

So to any other PS3 fanboy idiots out there, Blu-ray does not mean better graphics, it only means more space on ONE disk for games, nothing more, nothing less (look at RE4 on two 1.5GB mini-DVDs on the GC which is superior to the PS2 version on one 4.4GB DVD!).

Stupid Nero Burning Rom,still I think replacing Dante as a lead character, with some new clone/main character is a more than a bad move.
I have something for Nero it`s a Devil finger for him, gues which one

O yeah not to mention "game is delayed,U have to wait a Q1 2008"
Thanks multiplatform!

» Nero main character BAD BAD MOVE.

I don’t like the change they did with this game. Dante not main character F-U-C-K that. Is like changing link from Zelda with some gay character. Or changing metroid character for an alien. This happen before with metal gear 2 for the ps2 and it was a disaster, and I lost my $53 dollars. After that I never buy any new metal gear game. I only got 2 metal gear games for the psp. I was planning to get this game when it goes for sale, but not any more. Maybe when it cost $15 dollars in 3 more years later.

 » Maybe

It might be a bad move to replace Dante, but they did it smart. Nero is basically Dante with a different name and new fighting capabilities. So, I don't think people are going to make a fuss about it. I just hope the story is good and Dante is completely ignored and we don't get to know anything new about his character or past. I was pissed when Solid Snake was replaced by the that sissy Raiden.

 » PS3 - X360 - PC [Background Information]

Even though my major at university was not related to computer science, I have taken many computer part-time courses for one year in Japan. My cousin whose major is computer informatics brought his computer booklet to my house; I spent a few hours to read it to kill some time. I translated all the Japanese texts into English. For your benefits, read the following paragraphs to increase your knowledge.

If you want to compare the speeds (performances) of CPUs, run a benchmark software; or just do some math and calculate the values.
- System architecture: PS2’s EE (emotion engine, CPU, by Sony & Toshiba) is implemented in 128 bit technology. EE was mass produced in 1999; at that time, all PCs (personal computer) in the world were made in 32 bit tech. Then a few years later, Intel and AMD (advanced micro devices) which are world’s 1st and 2nd biggest CPU manufacturers for PC industry, started to produce CPUs based on 64 bit tech. PC industry will have to go a long way until PC CPUs are made in 128 bit tech.
- Clock speed (frequency)
- Front Side Bus (FSB, system bus): is the physical bi-directional data path.

(Quote) “PS2 CPU has 300 MHz speed, and PS2 console can run very complex games like God of War 2, Final Fantasy XII, and so on. On the other hand, my old PC’s CPU has 1.5 GHz (1,500 MHz) speed, and it can barely run very low-end games. How can it happen when my PC CPU is five (x5) times faster than the speed of PS2 CPU?” (Unquote)

I have read comments like the above one many times which have been written by ign+rant and mor+nic losers. This is why many of you must read this informal essay (summary) to study and learn something. As I said earlier, you must consider all 3 factors: architecture, clock speed, and bus width.

PS2’s CPU (300 MHz) is as fast as 1.5 GHz Intel Pentium 4 CPU.

300MHz EE = 1,500 MHz Pentium 4 (Standard Edition)
(Or)
300 MHz EE = 3.0 GHz Celeron * 2 = (Celeron) 6,000 MHz worth of speed

Sony and Toshiba’s PS2 CPU is five (x5) times faster than Intel’s standard CPU.
PS2 CPU is twenty (x20) times faster than Intel’s Celeron CPU.

Intel’s Celeron CPU (I don’t have enough writing space to educate you on this term, visit online encyclopedia and study by yourself) is basically a dumbed-down version of Standard Edition.

The booklet (published in Apr. 2007) also talks about PC CPUs. Currently, the fastest CPU for PC is... Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 Quad-Core: $1,500 (tax inclusive, in US dollar).

You may buy this dumbed-down version... Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad-Core: Only $600 (tax inclusive).

If you don’t get enough pocket money from your mom and dad then get the Duo version... Intel Core 2 Duo: Only $140 (tax inclusive).
PS3’s Cell Microprocessor was jointly developed by a Sony, Toshiba, and IBM (an alliance known as STI). PS3’s Cell CPU is ten (x10) times faster than the speed of QX6800 Quad-Core ($1,500). You lowly-educated idi+ts always say that PS3 console is over-priced; you must be illiterate and blind; and I haven’t even talked about the future-device named Blu-ray drive in every PS3.
A chart in this book shows something interesting (see below). If we say the speed of PS2’s CPU is six (6), then it becomes easy to compare all the other CPUs.
6 --- PS2
7 --- GameCube
9 --- Xbox 1
12 --- Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz Standard
13 --- Wii
20 --- QX6800 Quad-Core
100 --- X360
200 --- PS3

Just for your reference or ignorance (to fill in your stupidity), IBM and Japanese companies like Fujitsu and Hitachi are world’s leading manufacturers of SuperComputers. Currently (in 2007), world’s fastest SuperComputer is IBM’s Blue Gene (used in the department of US Nuclear Security). Its speed is 280 tera-flops. IBM is currently making the newest SuperComputer which will run at 5 peta-flops (jaw-dropping 5,000 tera-flops). This newest SuperComputer will use the updated version of PS3’s Cell-microprocessor. Professional analysts have said that Sony will use this updated version of Cell CPU for their PlayStation 4 in the future.
