Konami carefully picking studio to do MGS movie; director Paul Thomas Anderson interested - Image 1

In a recent press conference surrounding the summer release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Konami Digital expressed its desire to keep the Metal Gear Solid movie as close to what the gaming fans originally adored about MGS. And to that end, they are carefully considering which movie studio will get to produce the motion picture adaptation.

It's really no wonder why. After a slew of blatant...err...misrepresentations of iconic game franchises, Konami wasn't about to just hand the fruits of its labor to the whims of Hollywood. Aki Saito of Konami who's playing a significant role in the feature film project, said:

Often Hollywood adaptations have the original game creator involved at the beginning, but somewhere along the line they fall out of view. This is why it’s very important for us to carefully pick the studio for this project.

Saito confirmed that Hideo Kojima will not be on the director's chair for the MGS movie. Pressed for input, Saito only managed to say that director Paul Thomas Anderson of "There Will Be Blood" fame was interested. More updates as we get them.
