Netal Gear Solid 4 - Image 1Konami has posted a statement in its own forums to straighten out a few things about the  Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition Gun Metal Gray PlayStation 3s it's been offering. Among them the biggest questions answered were those that pertained to how limited this bundle is and what kind of body finish the console sports.

The publisher didn't give out an exact number as to how many Gun Metal Gray PS3s they have in stock, but they did hint that it's in the "four digit" neighborhood. The public was assured that there will be less than 10,000 of these babies, and once they're gone, they're gone for good.

Second, Konami clarified that the Gun Metal Gray body is not a mere paint job. The body finish on this PS3 is actually matte, so it definitely differs from the standard smooth casing. Lastly, there was the answer for questions on what kind of DualShock 3 this version of the console will have. Konami said that it will be gray and it will have a matte texture like the console itself.

The publisher also explained that the pre-orders for their site-exclusive SKU are done on a daily basis to make things easier for everyone. They say that this is better than giving out all the reservations in one big splash so that people who can't be online at that moment can still catch the next few sessions.

Canadian PS3 owners were assured that their supply of the SKU is due to arrive very soon. Some shipping arrangements just have to be ironed out to get the product up north as quickly as possible.
