Konami has decided to delay the title's release in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide. Konami will continue its efforts to make Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots meet everyone's expectations. |

One more delay and thats a solid 2 years on the market without a system seller.. Thats death.
Already a Q2 release means less PS3s on this years christmas list.. If its pushed back once more, Im bailing while I can still get a good resale value on my unit.
I'll buy a used 40GB when FF13 comes out in 2010

Mgs4 is definatly the ultimate console mover (on any platfrom) indeed but the ps3 has more great games which will make up for the delay of MGS4, like Haze, Uncharted, Rachet and clank which in my personal opinion these type of games are not in the caliber of games like MGS4 but still offer as much fun as the best game around (the wii factor if you like).
I quess that whoever has a super title like Sony has MGS and MS Halo (not that they even compare) they have sort of a curse on them, because even if the wanted, no other game whould gain more respect and attention than these super titles. The point is that even if a game is actually better than the said super title it wont get the credit it deserves due to the extended obsession on the super title.
A true example of this is Gears of war and Halo 3, I played both and I can sencerely and un-biasdly say that GoW is better than Halo 3 and its a year older.
My end point is that MGS4 delay (which i dont think it is one because I had a spring release in mind) will not hurt Sony as some of you like to imagine (yes Device it is you I'm talking about)

Of course a delay of a console mover affects Sony and it's sales. I don't expect the PS3 to outsell the 360 in US monthly sales until MGS4 is released.
Most people look at the shelves in the game store, and the less software is there the more Sony will struggle. If the 360 still looks more attractive then the PS3 when GTA IV is released, Sony might be in big trouble. Having MGS4 launching close to that would of helped Sony tremendously.
But whatever :D

Since when is delaying a title to improve its quality a development process problem? Have you thought about the hundreds of factors involved in this kind of delay? It's more likely that since the game has been in development for so long that they would go back to work on the graphics so that they could stand out more as there are many titles on the system that look to have better graphics than MGS4 already.

Why would someone who owns a PS3 care if a game is a system seller? It makes sense if you are thinking about more consoles means more thrid-party support but most other reasons would be foolish... Why not just like the games because they are good?

Too many great games on to buy soon so don't sweat it guys, i think most people thought it would be out around that time anyway.
My only gripe is i won't have enough time to play them when they're out!!

i agree i own every next gen system and the ps3 sticks out the most next year followed closly by the wii. the 360 did own this year though and not because of halo 3 but cause of other titles as well such as the sleeper hit blue dragon

I at least got to play the demo 4 times at e for all expo, that sux for some of you guys. I guess ya'll have to wait until 2Q of 2008; unless they release a demo in which I highly think they wont.
Well other than the humiliation, MGS4 did needed improvements on the AI, the demo had a bunch of bugs. such as Snake getting stuck while crawling, soldiers going half way through walls. Konami gave survey to fill out and put what needs improvement on the game. Probably they read some of them and notice they needed to make improvements. but hey as long as the game is good when it launches
