Bioshock - Image 1The UK edition of the Official PlayStation Magazine is out and delivered the much awaited scores on several recently released or upcoming titles.

As mentioned in the title, BioShock managed to nab the ever-elusive 10 rating, an honor shared by such games as Call of Duty 4 and Grand Theft Auto 4. No crappy port here, obviously. Good for you, 2K Marin.

This is interesting since the "new unique features" announced for the PS3 version really just amounted to a slightly more difficult setting called "Survivor mode."

The bulk of the exclusive add-on features won't be available till around a month from now through downloads so this 10 rating seems to be largely standing on the merits of content that's more than a year old.

Evidently, Bioshock is that awesome.

Other game scores you might be interested in are Resistance 2, Mirror's Edge and Far Cry 2, all of which came away with an impressive 9 rating. Tomb Raider: Underworld, Tom Clancy's EndWar and Dead Space scored solid 8s and Silent Hill: Homecoming managed a respectable 7.

The loser of this batch was Saint's Row 2 with a 5. Odd, since it generally nabbed 9's and 8's with other reviewers.

Check out the full list of scores at the source link  below.

» some aren't even out yet

how are they rating them before they're released? If OPM can play the game before it's on shelves then what if the game is still being refined? These scores might not reflect the final product.

Games are finalized, sent to gold and then start production of the discs way before the shipdate (sometimes up to a month before) to make sure they're able to produce enough for launch. Final "review" copies are sent out to publication and the such before release date so their teams can issue their verdict on said game before gamers go out and get those said games.

It's nothing new and you're guaranteed that they have the final product in their hand and THAT is what they reviewed. Other wise they would of stated such and it would be a "preview" - not a "review".

 » But sometimes

When a mag reviews a game really early, before anyone else, it is usually not the final copy. Like OXM'S Fallout 3 review, which they reviewed weeks before the game is out. Taking into account the fact that a mag takes usually 2 weeks to put together, they had that game more than a month before release. That game was not done 1.5-2 months before street release

"No crappy port here, obviously."

The graphics are by far not as good as PC or 360.

Just look at those blurry textures:

What about some arguments? You should have some of them if you write something like that (without any punctuation characters).

Did you even took a look at the screenshots?
You can clearly see that the textures are more unsharp then on the other systems.

"you say bioshock is crap on ps3"
No I didnt. Or show me where. I only said something about the texture quality.

"buy a proper gameing system you pikey"
Just because I said something negative about a PS3 game you assume that I use a 360 or PC? Do PS3 owners never critizise a PS3 game?

And what does stupidity has to do with the fact that the textures of game X on system Y cleary dont look as good as on system z?

I have a 360, but don't really care about a difference in textures enough to post about them.

When you're playing a game, you don't notice things like that unless you're looking for them, and if you are, then you're missing out on the experience, no? That's just me anyways.

PS3 gets MGS4. Great. 360 gets GoW2. Great. (Though I don't like GoW)

As for PS3OUTSIDER...please shut up.

''p.s buy a proper gameing system you pikey.''

Uh PS. Learn how to spell gaming.

Uhh PPS. Learn that 360 is a proper gaming system.

Uhhh PPPS. Who uses the word pikey?

UHHHH. PPPPS. STFU.

 » seriously kid,

They fixed this before the game's final release. Just do a little reading and you'll see that reviewers thought that the game looks a little sharper on the PS3 overall because they could fit more complex textures on the blu ray. IGN is one review you can look at if you want.

I don't know why you even care about this, but next time you go spouting falsehoods, go do your homework.

 » Yo

Check your emails. Playstation Underground released an ad that says:

"We invite you into our 'HOME' as
Veronica takes a stroll through our
eagerly-anticipated virtual
community with HOME's North
American Director, Jack Buser/.../Plus,
an invitation to all Qore Episode 06
and Annual customers to join the
PlayStation Home Closed Beta."

This was grabbed from the very bottom of the email web ad. Go grab your copies of Qore. This could only mean that Home is confirmed a solid release in November since most episodes release exclusive keys to subscribers right before a launch. Qore Episode 06 will release early November.

the PS3 fan boys are still acting like 4 year olds

   Re: Xis - 2008-10-25
 » 4 year olds

that pulled 300+ for a console and gameing for free bein 4 yrs old is FKN awsome I love free gameing and Home cant wait till I grow up oh ye I'm a fan boy how is this an insult by the way?

   Re: kimdrummel - 2008-10-26
 » Hehe

Don't mind Binary, he and the rest of the 360 fanboys can't come up with anything insulting for the console cuz they know that its superior to their own.
   by Seoulfood - 2008-10-26
 » oh

And that's a pity about Saints Row. I personally think it's more fun than GTA4 albeit a little shallower.

   by ShadeyProphet - 2008-10-26
 » no offence but.

who cares which version of a masterpeice is definitive?
it's a freaken masterpeice, and it's been said more then once that the differences between versions is almost not worth mentoning.

we ps3 owners got lucky and hit the jackpot by getting bioshock, and the version we got is great.

weather or not it's definitive is beside the point. it's an awesome game.

we are lucky to have it. it got a 9.7 for the 360 versions on ign a year ago, and a 9.4 on ign for the ps3 version,

and really, i dont have a problem with this.

a fractrion of a point?! who cares about a fraction of a point. weather you have the 360 version or the ps3 version you have a great game!!!, enjoy it.

I most certainly will.

   Re: bloodangel86 - 2008-10-27
 » he's right

I wish all fanboys would understand this but it looks like that wont happen for long :( good thing there are enough fanboys for ps3 and xbox360 (kids) to finally clubber each other down and leave the rest of us without their mindless blabbering.

(and im saying that as a sony fan by heart but I love my xbox360 too :0)

I would have loved a 360 but sending it back every 6 months put me off

I still have a c64 that works.. its a garantee a 360 wont last that long.

 » dude

Saints Row 2 is a hunk a sh--t compared to the rest of the games. Saints Row 1 was cool, but damn, something weird about the 2nd made me disappointed. oh well..whatever.
Bioshock kicks ass!!!

   Re: death - 2008-10-28
 » like the..

like what?

the glitching so bad that sometimes the game would load then just crash.

the retarded ai that would literally just drop a grenade (like right in front of then) then you have to go revive them

the fact that the autosave only works for the prologue then without warning just stops saving automatically.

yea i think i agree with you :@

lol took the gaem right back to EB after i beat it, got a complete refund.
