Ó

sixaxisOnline blog Three Speech was recently on our main page because some industry analysts are questioning their legitimacy. On the other hand, the guys over at Three Speech are saying they are not part of Sony but they are definitely semi-legit. Hmm.. At any rate, believe us today when we say that we're hoping that they really are legit.

Why? Because a couple of hours ago, certain information have "leaked" from Three Speech involving Phil Harrison and a bunch of details about the PlayStation 3. Accordingly, the PS3 will be launched in Europe on the third day of the third month, that's March 3. This is highly feasible as Sony has been big on context clues in the past. It was also mentioned that a March 2 or 9 launch date is still possible.

We also learned that the launch will be accompanied by the HDip Camera, PS3's answer to Xbox 360's Live Vision. Currently, no other information or specs are known regarding this accessory. Aside from the camera, it looks like Sony is not so keen on manufacturing PlayStation branded headsets, keyboards or mice. "Third party companies can offer these accessories to the consumer at a price which SCE could not compete," as one of the guys from the blog had put it.

Also, as far as we understood it, Sing Store, an extension of the online store, will go live.. People will soon be able to purchase songs for their 'Sing Star' karaoke program from here. There are many more things discussed. Sometimes, you want to argue the why and the how of them but then again, we'll just have to trust that Sony knows what its doing.

But for you guys, here's a summary of what transpired last night. By the way, the first six are those that will be included in the next firmware update, which will reportedly come out on March.

  • Multi-tasking (included will be audio/video conferencing while browsing the xmb and its features/ gameplay).
  • New xmb display options
  • New animations for audio playback.
  • New photo album options.
  • Playstation store auto resume
  • Psp remote play advanced access option (so that you can have access to your ps3's content anywhere that has a internet connection)
  • PS3 will be sold at £425 or lower, meaning we could have it cheaper then the previously stated price.
  • Dont expect to see 20GB models available in Europe.
  • No VGA cables to be released.
  • No plans to make RSX available to Linux OS, due to security issues.
  • A service to reserve your playstation online id will be up and running this weekend or next.

it might be cheaper than £425 becuase if you go on ign ps3 news sony have said that they have fixed there hardware manufacturing problem and are on target for 1million ps3's in stores by the end of the year

   Re: Spooks (Unregistered) - 2006-12-14
 » I hope so

£425 is a lot for a console, and a lot won't be able to afford that.

Drop it to £350 to make it more reasonable, and it will sell out in seconds.

 » Awesome

The multi-tasking and advanced PSP connectivity is what I want most. Being able to look at my PS3 from any Wifi hotspot will be amazing.

Amazing, but useless

Do you actually just follow me on PS3 news threads and try and point out I'm wrong?

Do have that much free time?

The PSP connectivity will actually be quite nice to have.

You though, you need a hobby besides PS3 bashing. Maybe go play that awesome 360 of yours.

Re: Mr. Common Sense (Unregistered) - 2006-12-14
 » not bashing

Seriously, yes you can show it off, but what you can do from a PSP is very limited. You also have to leave the PS3 on full time which uses a good deal of electricity. I'm sure you live at home so I guess it doesn't matter to you. Yes I am following you, I have a slow day at work and the boss is gone. Again, I'm not bashing, just pointing out that really isn't practical for any reason. Just like the PSP location free player. It's more work and cost to set up than it's worth.

   Re: Spector - 2006-12-14
 » eh a feature is a feature

Well I already do leave my PS3 on full time (going on 9 days since last power down). I would enjoy being able to access the content on my PS3 especially the music portion would be great for swapping out CDs and playlists on the go with my PSP. I'm also sure more and more features will be added so I'll be happy with the short term.

Also if you own an HD set those things use up tons more power than a PS3. So really the PS3s power usage issue is really on that one who pinches pennys would care about (aka someone who shouldn't be spending their money on high end entertainment).

Also if you want to talk practical tell me why MS sells the core system for 360 cause that thing is just the biggest rip off ever.

Sony is funny!
or were there any shipment of PS3s since launch?
not even one i have heared of.

   Re: mojay (Unregistered) - 2006-12-14
 » dude

Hey maybe you should actually talk to someone so that you can hear that, best buy and circuit city have gotten shipments almost every week, they dont know when they are comming in, they just come in.

   Re: Spector - 2006-12-14
 » shipments

There have been quite a few shipments since Sony was bringing them to the US on airplanes. To say there were no shipments since launch is just down right wrong.

That's right, Sony's

not yours.

woohoo congratulations sony youve screwed me over again. Not having the 20gb model in Australia (yes daz, australia is in australia) doesnt really bother me but no bloody vga cables and not having RSX available is really annoying. Also PS3 is $999au for the 60gb model and $850au for the 20gb model. lol i dont blame sony for not shipping 20gb's over to south australia. PS3 will be no good until some decent hacks come out for it.

   Re: Matt (Unregistered) - 2006-12-14
 » i hear ya!

and really do want those VGA cables but up in Canada if you pre-ordered from EB games you got a 60 GB no say in that whatsoever. they kept their 20GB models for sale online. If there is anywork around for component to VGA or DVI to VGA id LOVE to hear about it! also i do realize that component does not use RGB colour yet PS3 offers the choice for blu ray films. also RGB doesnt provide as nice of an image so i'd advise you all to change that for colours sake!

 » the multi tasking

so does that meen i can video chat having a small box in the corner of the screen when playing a game? also it sounds like i can play any music i want when playing a game, that alone makes a great update, can't wait for the new animations for music

 » Incorrection

"the HDip Camera, PS3's answer to Xbox 360's Live Vision."

Live Vision is an immitation of Eye-Toy, make no mistakes about it.
