Lik-Sang logoOkay, remember Lik-Sang? The guys who let you pre-order PS3’s for no downpayment? Well, Judge Michael Fysh has recently ruled against Hong Kong-based Lik-Sang in a case brought by Sony to the High Court. In his ruling Judge Fysh said, "The acts of which the complaint is made have, in my view, been perpetrated not in Hong Kong but here in the EEA, and without Sony's consent."

Lik-sang objects to this in an official statement saying that "Hong Kong's laws are clear when it comes to parallel trade, and the company has no ties whatsoever with the UK." The statement also says that Sony intends to obtain a UK injunction against Lik-Sang to prevent the company selling products to consumers in the EEA, and that the platform holder has "threatened to initiate yet another lawsuit to prevent the sales of PlayStation 3 consoles to Europe".

do not mess with the law... or judges will go get youLik-Sang Marketing manager Pascal Clarysse says that having to fight multiple lawsuits in multiple countries at the same time and having to pay high premiums for lawyers is a very daunting situation for a small company like Lik-Sang. He adds that the act of having multiple court actions with separate claims and different judges is something that is a bit redundant.

Basically, Clarysse says that Sony’s actions are "unnecessary, except for the fact that it helps reaching one single target: outspend Lik-Sang to death." The Marketing manager goes on to say that he believes that the sale of import PSPs is something that is not causing Sony to suffer losses and damages.

Lik-Sang is currently exploring its legal options.

Seriously, Lik-Sang is one of the best sites on the net regardless of what Sony want to do with their import policy.

I can see why Sony want to limit/halt importing of goods, they want to be able to completly control the markets. However this WILL impact on Sony's profit margins due to the amount of people who import consoles to get games that are never released in our side of the world.

Its a hard one to say who is right and who is wrong on this one due to both sides of the argument, HOWEVER, in this case I really do feel that Lik-Sang shouldnt be singled out when there are many many other import sites out there. Instead of enforcing dinosaur management policies Sony need to get with the times and realise that the world is infact a global market these days dominated by the Internet.

» nah, lik-sang has gone drunk with power

they used to be cool, but requiring me to send them photo coppies of my signature, both sides of my credit card, and my I.D. before they do buisness with me? Are their company is outside North America? Sounds like idenity theft waiting to happen. Or at least fraudlant charges to my credit history.

I say burn down lik-sang.

 » It's called security procedures

They have policies about that.

next, have you EVER hear of identity theft or credit card fraud via Lik Sang? No.

Next, would you rather that they simply took all credit card orders that came their way without checking the card's ownership?

You won't appreciate these kinds of steps until you've received 4 pages worth of credit card purchases which you've never made, so back off.

 » Agreed meagara

The statement by 'lawl' is entirely assinine. In dealing with international trade it is ALWAYS better to pay the weighty price of thorough validation of someone's identity rather than risking acceptance of fraudulent orders. If securing your best interest is too bothersome just hop on paypal and ebay what ever you need so urgently.

   Re: BD (Unregistered) - 2006-10-22
» You have owned no one.

Honestly, Lik-Sang is not trying to steal your identity. International trade often requires a lot of validation. And the reason we mention Sony more than Microsoft and Nintendo is because this article is not about Microsoft or Nintendo... It's about Sony.

Also, Sony has injusticed it's users many times.

Sure, Nintendo always comes out with a "Better Version" (Advanced SP/DS Lite) that costs more and makes people re-buy their portable consoles, and Microsoft tries make sure that anyone with a PC runs Windows, and is monopolizing as we speak.

Truth is, Sony is not suing because they have been injusticed, but because they want to put Lik-Sang out of business. It's a stupid and cowardly thing to do (No matter what "Part" of Sony is doing it)

Also, added note: If Puerto Rico were to, lets say, drop a nuke on Mexico. Guess who would be the blame? That's right, the good ole' US of A. Puerto Rico is part of the USA, nearly as much as if it were one of the states.

In a nutshell: STFU unless you actually know what you are talking about!

» Lik-Sang have always provided excellent service

Well to me anyway, most shipments made it to me in less than the alloted time and Im in the UK.

Bit harsh to destroy a business over it and if you don't like Lik-Sang then don't buy from them, but to condemn them is being selfish to those of us who enjoy their service and to them, after all people gotta make a living.

 » drunk with power?

Not to mention I'll BET lawl is from the states. I call 'pot; kettle; black.'

Now let's see, Sony does rootkits, Sony sues everyone and their mother, Sony tries to prevent people from getting their stuff outside their own overly restrictive terms...

Yeah, I'm seeing where Lik-Sang could be considered 'drunk with power' in comparison. Next thing you know Lik-Sang will invade Pakistan! They're drunk with power! Oh NOES! Everyone run from the Lik-Sang menace!

 » you're a full blown idiot

It doesn't matter where I live, It's not like I control what my country leader does. Secondly, the part of sony you mentioned isn't even the games part of sony. That's like blaming america for some crap porta rico does.

And you're a *****ing *****got for standing up for a company that wants to steal your information. It's common sense rule #1 not to hand out private information. But you can go ***** yourself because I wasn't standing up for sony, I was complaing about how lik-sang has changed and now I use other import sites.

Besides, if you morons paid attention, nintendo and microsoft are in the lawsuit also. Only blaming sony makes you look like a *****ing idiot.

Your friend,

j00 got 0wnedz.

 » what's the loss?

you pay just under the price of a PSP in Europe, but when it hits the border you even have to pay extra import tax (arround $60 in the Netherlands).

Wath if I just bought a PSP when I'm in HongKong? Any laws against that? Think not.

   by BB (Unregistered) - 2006-10-22
 » A wii huh?

You're the kind of moron that ruin the QJ comment section. If you had half a brain, you'd know your beloved Nintendo company also has sued lik-sang......oh and did I mention Microsoft?

Thats it. I am sick of this *****. I, from here on in, am never buying another Sony product ever again. I mean it. They've went too far. They just want to monopolize the market well guess what? You can't. I hope the PS3 loses you even more money than you thought it would. If you get out of the console market it will be the best thing that has ever happened to it.

» big corps vs. small corps

I hate it when huge corporations pick on small, flourishing companies.

my message to SONY:

If you can't provide the service that Lik Sang does or cater to the demand that only Lik Sang can supply, then ***** off. Not like they're pirates. They still provide legitimate Sony games so what's your problem???

Lik-Sang is an amazing website. You can order all sorts of things there.

Why is sony reacting like this?
Just forbid em to sell ps3's untill their released in europe (march '07)

» there is reason for any company to go against importing

when they themselves supply to those areas(even if it is delayed they are still gonna supply), they lose money because they charge different amounts of money for each area, not just because the currency is different, but since most people don't care for how much more they are gettin charged versus another area, companies take full advantage of that. and i recall lik-sang being one of the big boy importing companies, i can easily see why they are being gone after first.

» Stop making extra money for us-Sony

'Um, yeah we don't want u to make extra money for us, so could ya stop selling our products, kthxbi"-Sony ;)

I say Sony either A) Release All version of the products, in every country they have a market in OR B)Let Lik-Sang take care of releasing all versions

The only reason why I imported from there was the didn't release a certain version of their product in my country, and a as a result of that SCE has made some profit off of me twice for vitually the same product, if they only want profit off of me once for the same product so be it, but I don't see how any company could want that...

Shut up Sony fanboy. And Sony just don't want the Europeans (me) getting the PS3 before March. They think we'll buy it like suckers well we won't. They better *****ing get in line and start worrying more about the PSP failing, the PS3 going to fail and their consumer relations going down the tube.

   by Fin (Unregistered) - 2006-10-22
 » O wow

You calling me a fanboy is an oxymoron. Even if Sony didn't want Europe customers to get their hands on a PS3 until March people will get them anyways. Even if Lik-sang is crippled or shut down, people (if they want them hard enough) will get their hands on them some way or another through other websites, relatives/friends/aquintances sending them over from a different country, traveling (for the hardcore), etc. Possibilities are limitless.

And hey, I do think (with no offense) that "They think we'll buy it like suckers" because over here in the US they've already begun buying them like suckers with preorders only lasting a couple minutes before they run out.

 » Re:

IF you think about it link-sang must of have done somethin wrong.

there are other websites like: play-asia.com

at the moment this website its selling PSPs and PS3s, import games, basicly the same and even more thing than link-sang.

so here is the question: WHY SONY DOESNT SUITS THEM AS WELL???

P.S. play-asia.com its no the only website there more on the internet, so APARENTLY WHY SONY SUITS ONLY LINK-SANG?
