I don't know what to make of it. Sure it's Linux, but probably a limited version to stop people running anything on it. Exactly what Jason61etc.
I read somewhere that someone would install Vista on it. WHY???!!!!

» yah right
so it has linux....
if it was truely linux it would have a hack made available for it and it would be made public and spread....
but i doubt it. i think they will make their own version of linux, and copywright it and not make the code available..
so it will be a Sony OS, and only be linux in name.

Linux is published under the GPL. Any changes/additions Sony makes to Linux has to be published ounce Sony decides to distrubute their work.
e.g. Sony can make their own customer version but they also have to make the code available to the public.
Just because the code is open doesn't mean that it is less secure.

Think about it 30 million linux desktop running the on ps3's, think of all the app going to be written for this platform..Sony long tern goal is the cell in everything from desktop to tv right, it could remove microsoft hold on the computer industy. I believe it going to be as open as the linux they had for ps2.
