Logo of Entertainment Software Association - Image 1We previously covered a rumor which stated that LucasArts supposedly followed suit with Activision and Vivendi's pull-out from the Entertainment Software Association (ESA).

Recent statements released by both the ESA and LucasArts confirmed that the company did indeed take its leave from the video games organization, but mentioned that it will still support the ESA's mission in the industry.

The ESA confirmed that LucasArts failed to renew its membership this year and respected the company's decision regarding the matter. The organization is currently composed of 25 members, including three companies that were inducted into the ESA earlier this year.

Margaret Grohne, Director of Public Relations concurred with the ESA's statement and issued her own reply on behalf of the company:

We can confirm that LucasArts is no longer a member of the ESA. As a company we are still committed to bringing consumers the best interactive experience possible and support the ESA's mission in the industry. LucasArts will be participating in E3.

Hopefully, this will still mean more releases from the long-standing company behind such popular franchises such as the Star Wars series. Who knows? Perhaps they'll have something new to show everyone during the upcoming E3 event.
