 There's been some unnerving news about Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots reviews as of late, but here's something of a positive update: the game has been reviewed by popular Japanese game magazine Famitsu and has racked up a perfect score of 40/40.This is quite an accomplishment for Konami and Kojima Productions. Only seven titles prior to MGS4 have received such a score. These "perfect" games include The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Soulcalibur, Vagrant Story, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Nintendogs, Final Fantasy XII and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Publications like GamePro and and the Official PlayStation Magazine have likewise given MGS4 perfect scores. Hold your breaths, PS3 fans. This may very well be another early candidate for game of the year honors on a lot of other media bodies. Click on the image to view the scan in full. |

a 24. seriously? so what would you give the first, second, and third. when the game comes out and you get it like the rest of us you will see it is easily 35. the first one is at least 28-30. and for all the people hating the character changes (mg2) does it really matter once you get stealth camo.

just shows how little this means... i mean come on ff12... i luv kingdom hearts and the ffs... but ff12 was not good... the story was rubbish, and they made a complete mess of fighting system... anyhow, i do hope mgs is this gud, highly doubt it will b though.
personally i dont belive any game should have perfect score, cus if there is eva a lil point in da game that gets a little boring, its not perfect, possible to get 40/40 for graphics or sound though...

But I don't share your idea about a perfect score. I think all the games that makes everyone play like crazy for weeks or even months, with great graphics and gameplay, should have a perfect score. A game doesn't have to be perfect to have a perfect score then, it should just surpass by a large margin all the other games made in the genre. And I think MGS4 will be perfect in that way. You must be retarded. FFXII was amazing, story and battle system wise. The only thing I would have liked would be a more detailed background behind the characters. Seriously, the only reason people hate the Battle System is either because, you don't think fast enough or they can't get over the fact that Square Enix always changes their battle system set-up around with Final Fantasy (I.E. Materia in VII, Junctioning in VIII, etc.). They made a bold step in taking a primarily turn-based (I say this because of the Active battle setup) battle system, and making it real time while maintaining the level of intensity in battle. So even if this game was bad (which it definitely isn't) the fact that Square Enix was able to make such a bold move and pull it off perfectly instead of just sticking with the generic Final Fantasy I-VI ripoffs that everyone else is spitting out with better graphics but a quarter of story in terms of quality alone should have been enough to earn the game a high grade.

The two have pretty dry libraries. Of course, for Sony it will be difficult because the PS2 had an incredible library of games.
