Rock Band Drum Pedal - Image 1Here's an interesting mod for Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360) that we've just found out about. Faced with a broken drum pedal controller, one intrepid player decided to mod the drum pedal controller onto a real drum pedal.

The result just happened to be a mod that improved upon the Rock Band controller, making it easier to perform those double kick maneuvers.

According to the post about it over on the Metafluence blog, Justin Kistner took out the needed sensors from the Rock Band pedal controller and placed them into an actual drum pedal, while keeping the magnetic sensor needed to register the kicks on the original controller. He then adjusted the beater's position on the drum pedal so it would strike downwards towards the sensor.

If you're tempted to make your own custom drum pedal, you can view the full walkthrough of the mod by following the source link. That being said, you may want to send Justin a picture of your setup once it's done.

They really need to redesign that crappy pedal (the one that comes with the game.)

Mine broke within 2 days, and I added epoxy to the replacment to strengthen it because I knew it would break again.
