what's up with Capcom? i got DMC4 and if i'm getting this then they just took away 10gb from my 60gb ps3... and i want to know why? i know i will soon need to upgrade my harddrive but i don't want to do it for a game that i'm not really that excited to get anyway... i already have 17 Blu Ray games and some of them needs harddrive installation like Oblivion, Heavenly Sword, Assassins and such... and all my games i play again once in a while when i feel like it so i don't want to delete any previously installed game...
they could have just lost a potential customer because they like doing this 5gb installations and it's not unlikely that there are others on the same boat as me.
i mean what's your problem capcom??? to the 360 owners, can any of you share your knowledge on how big this game is? 6GB? 7GB? are loading times bad???? is it that hard to effectively port games capcom???? i have other multiplat games and most of them doesn't need 5gbs and if installation is needed it doesn't take 20+ minutes and it's quite clear why the installation is called for... Capcom doesn't even let us know why?
and it's hard to understand for someone who has 16 other games to compare to capcom games like uncharted: drakes fortune which shows how the PS3 handles A-Grade games and it's capabilities...

Sure it can run from a disk but being a pc gamer, I'd much rather play from the HD.

The fact that once you have a really healthy selection of games and just want to pop one in for a half-hour of fun you may have to sit there figuring out what to delete and then re-install a game......You say upgrade, but ya that would be fun, get a bigger HDD, spend more money, then have to re-install EVERY game you have ever played.....no thanks...
Anyways Jin, multiple magazine have stated that the game is quite abit below the 360 in terms of visuals, and they are judging from pretty much finished versions of the games........also DMC had the same problem and it has identical visuals, and load times are maybe .5-1 second longer on 360.....but you don't have to waste your time or HDD installing for 30 mins....
Quix, Lost planet is 7 gigs on the 360....
I just really hope Sony releases a 4X BD-Drive in the future....or if you are going to install pretty much the whole game on the HDD, then just install the extra few gigs so that I at least don't need to put in the freaking disc.....

This is a good thing. This makes the game run and load faster. You think your PC doesnt have to install 5gb before playing? The PS3 is just like a PC. I love it when I have to install the game to the hdd first because I know its going to run better.

I guess you enjoy wasting your time. This game came out almost 2 years ago on the 360 and they have to do this just to make it work on the PS3? This is mostly because the blu-ray drive on the PS3 is too slow to get the info out of the disk fast enough. They really need a blu-ray drive with at least 4x speed, then you wouldn't have this problem.

With the phase-out of the 80 GB PS3, I just hope Sony will release another SKU with 120 GB or more, seeing as games now and later in the future will require installs requiring memory in the GB's, though it isn't much of a problem if you buy a sizable HDD. I agree with Lethal_NFS that it's like a PC, and that installs help it run better, but I also agree with Ouixand that some games won't get as many sales because of the space installation takes up, and some can't get a HDD as easily as others.

imo, you shouldnt have to pay more money to be able to play your own games, its completely wrong. You should be able to play the games from the discs. What happens when you run out of hard drive space, are you expected to upgrade your hard drive to play games you paid for. meh i dont think this is right.

An install boost the loading speed and the number of stuff loaded at the same time on-screen. Now bunch of imbeciles say things like: "20mins is too much", but in realily, it's nothing to cut down the loadings. I hate games that have tons of loadings, it's a real pain in the ass, I'd gladly install my PS2 games that lagged if it could help the loading!!!! Also, some says 5gig is too much, but WHAT THE *****? I mean, my ps3 is connected to my PC's virtual server, where I have all my movies in divx (I'm happy the ps3 plays this now) and mp3s are... I don't really need the ps3's space.. it was done for downloads and install, so it's exactly what we're doing. And 5gig is nothing, it's not like you need to play 10 games at a time. Right now, I installed 3 games on my HDD, assassin's creed + bladestorm + enchanted arms (I think), and it's not taking a lot of space... even with DMC4 and lost planet, I wouldn't lack space at all, and I could delete the assassin's creed file since I'm not playing anymore.
Finally, M$ is using this install thing on the x360 too, but only in korea where the "core version" have not been released. That's why koreans are lucky with 1-2 games that, for them only, put an install feature that boost the loading speed.
So I LOVE installs, and I'd love that more things would be installed. I mean, if installing the complete GTA4 map can decrease the loading and then boost the number of polygons, this would meen that we wouldn't have less loading (GTA doesn't have loadings after the 1st) but we'd have better graphics, because of the install!! So I'm 100% into this!
ps: An RPG without any loading! :D My dreams will come true with FF13, because of the install so much people hate!!! People are stupid sometimes...

as i said i ONLY have a PS3 and i got DMC4 on it. my buddy who ONLY has a 360 got the game too cause i recommended it. i played it on his 360 just to show him the basics, went and did a couple of levels and aside from me adjusting to the 360 controller there is no noticeable difference.

The negative about the PS3 that is coming up in this situation is that the blu-ray drive is only 2x speed and cant get the data out of the disk fast enough to run the game the way Capcom set it up, just as they did with DMC4. Sony really needs to come out with a faster blu-ray drive in the PS3 in the future because this problem will probably keep occuring, even from other companies, as games get bigger and massive amounts of data need to be streamed off of the disk to run the game. If the PS3 had a 4x drive in it this wouldnt be a problem at all. Blu-ray was just so new at the time the PS3 was developed that the 2x speed was probably the only one that they had available that was affordable enough to go into mass production. Now that it is years later and the fact that they want to have a 10 year life cycle for the PS3 it should be no problem to make PS3s with a faster blu-ray drive. Im sure when the new Xbox(720?) comes out it will have at least a 4x blu-ray drive in it, maybe even faster.

What the Hell are you all complaining about? Just get a bigger HDD. It was the same with the PS2 and PSone. When your Memory Card was full, you had to buy another one. Even today, with X360 you have to buy Memory cards, if you don't have a HDD, and the Wii also has limited space.
It's pretty much clear that you can't have 100 games, 500 videos and 1000s of mp3s at the same time. What you demand is just crazy. You wouldn't even stop complaining if Sony makes a PS3 with 1TB HDD, am I right?

I just waited 20 minutes, and now I have to do it all over again!" This really is a pain because it is MANDITORY. I would rather just wait the few seconds of loading than to have to keep doing this MORE THAN ONCE.
