Like a father beaming proudly at his son after a successful soccer match, Sony speaks fondly of its two hit titles, Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet. "Really proud" is how the company describes itself, especially after both titles won ELSPA awards last month.

Resistance 2 won the Silver sales award in recognition of its achievement of having sold 100,000 units, while LBP won the Gold award for having sold 200,000 units in the UK. And with the continuing demand for the adorable Sackboys, it is anticipated that LBP will even be soon a contender for the Platinum award, or with 300,000 units sold.

Said Sony in an official statement:

Next to those [awards] chosen by our consumers, we love the ones that actually relate to the sales success of the titles concerned. We are really proud of both LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2.

...we think that they showcase why this is a great time to own a PlayStation 3.

 » Little Big Planet sucks.

I just rented for the first time and I am so disappointed. The game is designed for little kids. I dont understand why so many people over ten years old think this game is really great.

Maybe you would think better of it if it were a 360 exclusive?

   Re: yworob - 2009-01-20
» You dont have to be a fanboy to think LBP is for little kids.

Do you really think this game is great? I was bored the whole time I played it. I mean your pinning stickers on objects and jumping around collecting coins. What is so much fun about this game?

   Re: Gamester101 - 2009-01-20
 » But..

Whether you like it or not, or whether it is designed for "10 year olds" or not, its still a great game, and thats undisputed, even by Xbots and 360 sites. FWI, its not for 10 year olds. Maybe if you browse some of the levels, you'll notice its not just "pinning stickers on objects". I'd like to see you make some of the levels.

Oh, and btw, you dont have to be a fanboy to have an opinion, but you clearly are one anyway...

» PS3 fanboys always accuse everyone else of being a fanboy if they dont suck Sonys d*** like most of you guys.

I own a PS3, a 360 and a Wii. I use my PS3 mostly for watching movies and I love the bluray player. The 360 has the most games that I like to play but I also think that Microsoft is greedy and that it is inexcusable how high the failure rate is for the 360. The Wii is a lot like Little Big Planet as it seems it was designed for ten year olds. You fanboys are losers.

» no one has forgot it

it was just so epic that everyone is still in to much shock to talk about it :P

   Re: RexNox - 2009-01-19
 » MGS4...

I've talked to a lot of people about it...here's the long and short of it...

People hate the pace of the game, and the game's depth is only appreciated at its (slow) pace. And, its depth is what makes it epic.

I found it interesting that Uncharted2 has stealth elements when hardcores seem to hate almost anything (somehow puzzles seem to be ok) that slows the pace of the game.

 » Apart from...

playing with someone who looked like "Automan (80s flashback should be coming soon) with a box on his head"...LBP is OK.

R2...looks great...still haven't played it.

   Re: death - 2009-01-19
 » R2 is awesome

not as good as the first one (well actually its prolli better, but much shorter) but the online is amazing, better than cod4

 » ...

They win Prizes everywhere, they are best rated, they get enough ads, and still, people won't buy these great games as much as expected. What the hell is up with the gamers out there?

 » Because

"They" are not MGS4

 » mm

both those games are a pile of horse *****

cod4/5 and fiffa09 are great games, motorstorm 2 is decently good

the only thing at the moment doing the ps3 proud is its hardware

the ps3 exclusives lack, im never really been found of exclusives anyway, bioshock DEMO sucked badly

i think just because its an excusive there more fanboyism making the game out to be new and innovative

also answer me this, what did LBP bring which no other game has brought, it was discribed as innovative

there have been free physics games, made my kids which have 10x better gameplay, LBP is just a physics engibe thats it

   Re: Gamester101 - 2009-01-20
 » mm??

can you justify why these games are "a pile of horse *****"?

hey im now a fanboy - Gears 2 and Halo are a load of ****!

   Re: RexNox - 2009-01-20
 » I'm sry...

what are the names of these other 4-player shareable, no-cost, player-designed level games? Just wondering so they can be supported...

 » Ha

How amusing...he's suddenly disappeared. I hope he brings out the "I have both consoles" or "I'm not a fanboy line" lol.
