PS3 - Image 1A man from Kentucky was charged for allegedly persuading an 11-year-old girl to send him nude pictures of herself using her PS3.

According to the Houston Chronicle, 24-year-old Anthony Scott O'Shea (aka "Thunder-kid") met the girl while playing Warhawk online. Over the course of several weeks, O'Shea managed to convince the girl to send him the nude pictures while they played online on their PS3s. Court documents also showed that she "performed" for him via webcam.

The girl told her parents about the incident after O'Shea kept pressuring her to send more pictures and to set up a meeting so they could have sex. O'Shea has since acknowledged that he had been in contact with the girl and that he had indeed received the photos she sent./ Police also discovered that he had sent the photos to other people.

Sick world we're living in, eh?

Thanks to sickofitall for the tip!

» im not on the side of the pedo but

its the parent that's to be blamed for their stupid child's mistake.
first of all the game WARHAWK is rated
ESRB: Teen
OFLC: Mature
PEGI: 16+

11 years old girls shouldn't be playing with it.
i mentioned it before and will say it again now... Dear Stupid parents the PS3 Xbox 360 and Wii have Age Lock restriction, you can limit what your child can access even if they got a hold of mature games it wont run IF you responsible parents enable it on your child's console.

and to the pedophile, shame on you!
shame on you for using a console, a pc is more suitable for your needs.

 » Agreed...

Here's the real story.

O'Shea:"Let's meet and have sex."
Girl: "Mom what's sex?"

And that's how this nasty mother****** got caught. And now you know the lesson to this story. Never ask a girl to have sex when she doesn't know what it is yet........yahhh.

Both are definitely at fault. I just don't see why she even gave him the nude photos and performed on webcam. :S

When I was 11 I knew it was wrong to show strangers or anyone my "privates"....and supposedly girls mature faster than guys....

She knew what she was doing, she just got freaked out when he probably said "imma come to your town and find you...errr meet you"

She might have known it was wrong, but it's still wrong. I'm sure she told her parents because dude wouldn't leave her alone, again his fault. Not to mention dude is so lame he cyber-stalks an 11 year old.

I agree that the DS and the Wii are kiddy consoles, but may I remind you of the SNES, the NES, the N64, the GameCube and the GameBoy Advance?

They all were great consoles and they had great
games.

IMO Nintendo needs to get back to it's roots. But seeing how much money they make ripping off children they probably won't.

a camera and didn't her mom ask her what she was going to do with it if she asked her for it

   Re: Eclipze_ - 2009-03-15
 » Well

If she used a webcam and they met over the ps3 I'm pretty sure it was the Playstation Eye. The mom bought it thinking it was for the games on the playstation 3 (which it probably was at first).

Its not a matter of her knowing how to use it either (I could use electronics when I was younger with no problem), Its a matter of what not to use it for. This isn't the moms fault in my opinion, the girl should have knew what she was doing was wrong.

   Re: Shatterdome - 2009-03-15

Yeah you make it seem like 11 year olds are dumb....I had finished all the mario's and was using a computer by then (if you could call it a computer).

I've seen kids around that age with cell phones....also if she had the money, there is no age restriction on the playstation eye (maybe there will be now)

Also 11 year olds watch MTV, are influence by all the great pop idols out there like britney, christina, lady gaga, etc.....she knew she was being a hoe....
   by Navani - 2009-03-15
 » lol

He should have just looked online for child porn, as NASTY as it is, how stupid can you be actually getting it through a webcam from an 11 year old whose parents were probably right next door. I'll bet that she told her parents was a coverup, and that they walked in or something.

   by arishay - 2009-03-15
» Yes, here comes the opposition...

While I technically agree with all of you, we can't forget that both sides of the table were wrong here. That girl, being only 11, was of the age capable of understanding what she was doing. At that age, I knew what I was doing, and I knew about pedephiles. For some reason, kids are easily charmed by these types of people because your hormones kick in and it's too hard to say no. Most kids your age don't usually have the same problems you are facing so you sort of go looking for it. Mine kicked in at 12. Most females mature at a younger age, so there is your fudge factor. I am not defending anyone. The man was wrong too. No matter how you look at it, he's caught. There is no error in his judgment, he plainly *****ed up. He knew he was doing something wrong, and he knew that if he got caught he'd go to jail. He took the risk anyways. There probably was a certain amount of error in the information exchanged between the two. She probably tried to lie about her age. Probably told him she was 15 or 16, he *might* have reconsidered for a moment, but took the bait anyways.

It's just wrong no matter how you look at it. Morally, the child doesn't have a sense of responsiblity. The man, however, did. So from this tier, we see that the child really didn't have the mental capacity to understand what she was getting herself into. Like I said before, at that age, you learn the great skill of lying and sneakery. I am pretty sure it comes along with that hormone boost you get in it's early stages to drive you to go do it. W/e. Either way, this is another messed up scenerio.

correct me if im wrong. dont you need to be 18 to sign up for PSN?

   Re: arishay - 2009-03-15
 » Yes

Yes, you have to verify your age. You can make up a fake age though. Those things about as useful as child safe medicine bottle caps. If you can read you can get in it.

   Re: Justingraziano - 2009-03-16
 » ...

Honestly, If I had known how ageist they were I would have never bought the PS3, other than being ageist Sony is great.
   by djman855555 - 2009-03-15
 » so

the guy was wrong of course. but shouldn't the parents get in trouble. with a underaged child lies about they're age to gain access to something the parents should have some action taken against them. would atleast send a message to other parents

   Re: Gamester101 - 2009-03-15
 » I

think thats completely wrong. I can only speak for myself. But I hardly think its fair that they be prosecuted for being unaware of this disgrace, when you buy a games console you think they'll play GAMES.

   Re: girandhistacos - 2009-03-15
 » WHAT?!

What are you talking about Gamester? OF COURSE the parents need to be held under a lamp for this!

If you have a child as young as 11 and you decide to get them a console AND you have internet in your home, it is YOUR responsibility alone to observe and know everything they do whenever they're using it.

There is no excuse for this incident, none whatsoever. If you have a child it is your duty to make sure that nothing like this happens. It's not that difficult.

That child should HAVE never been allowed to talk to a strange person in the first place, let alone STRIP for him!

This is, for the most part, the parents' fault. Video games are not a damned babysitter.
   by ZEROmaverick - 2009-03-15

that is why parents have to RTFM!! read the "full" manual included with your console

more like check your children on what they are doing...

this reminds me i need to check on my sister... -_-

 » Not too much info.

This guy is a retard. He should been out looking for real girls instead of hiding behind the PlayStation 3. The girl is fully aware of what she's doing. She knew how to send pics she was underage. If I was that girls mother I would put a belt in her ass for lying and screwing around with an older guy. Who knows how many other guys she has tricked with her treachery. And to that dude; His life is messed up now. Word will spread, he'll be a pedophile and won't be able to find a decent job or move into a neighborhood without being watched.

   by avatar76 - 2009-03-15

I wonder if JustinGrazo will make a comment about how this is ok because the girl knew what she was doing. LOL

» Not to be the poster child for ADD, but . . .

this is the only thread i've ever seen on QJ that didn't immediately erupt into a flame war. jokes aside, i'm not even going to form an opinion with so little facts available. if he did it, his butthole will be the size of a mason jar in prison. pedos are at the bottom of the food chain. however, if she's making this up to cover her ass from mom and dad, shame on her; i hope she has no friends in high school. who knows, right?

   by Marmarflam - 2009-03-16

breaking the law happens quickly...

And as has been said above maybe he didn't know she was 11.

11 year old girls can look pretty "grown up" if you know what i mean.

also the guy might have been stupid...

or he could just be a pedo, that was going for it.
