Double Agent female spy - Image 1The PlayStation 3 version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent is smokin' hot lately because of the announcement of a new female spy. While this is good news for PS3 owners, fans of the series from other systems are kind of making a big fuzz about it. They're arguing that Ubisoft could be favoring one platform over the others.

The publisher's PS3 producer Mathieu Hector gave an interview recently about the matter (among other things) and reiterated that wasn't the intention. He explained:

Having a female playable character in the game is something we wanted to have since we started working on Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow. On Double Agent, this idea was still present, but we didn’t have the chance to implement it on time for the first versions. We really liked the idea and for players like me, it’s always more pleasant to follow the acrobatics of a female character, supple and elegant, than those of a born-to-kill-guy.

He went on to discuss further details about the game and its SIXAXIS support. Hector shared that they implemented the control when it was fun to play or whenever they thought it added to the gameplay experience. Accordingly, the tilt function will prove handy for players in the multiplayer mode when controlling the Drone. Regarding the single player mode, the official shared that,

In the single player mode, we were free to experiment various designs for the motion sensor implementation. It is used from time to time to operate various gadgets like picking doors or hacking security systems, or for Sam's special moves like swimming or paragliding.

Double Agent - Image 1During his last interview, Hector also revealed that the PlayStation Network will be put to use in Double Agent as something like it was done before in the PS2 and PC versions He assures players that PSN will provide all the required services to match and top the quality being offered by rival Xbox Live.

Rather than just more of the same, the NSA training centre and Kinshasa multiplayer maps are really different than the original multiplayer maps. Those maps have been produced with Ubisoft Milan, Italy, the studio which previously worked on the PS2 Multiplayer maps and we hope the PS3 players will enjoy playing them just as much as we did.

Well, we guess we'll have to see about that last one. But with the rate Double Agent is going now, we're pretty certain that Ubisoft indeed spent time with the PS3 version development. After everything, it looks like the game is really worth the wait.

"They're arguing that Ubisoft could be favoring one platform over the others."

-Yep, that'd be the 360 fb's. But they don't seem to mind when content/games are shifted to the 360 as a "preferred console".

Honestly, I think it's great for ubisoft to show that it supports the PS3 and are willing to show it by adding some additional content to it's version, which was delayed.

doesn't Ubidoft have its own right to choose whatever console they favor or not? Just like Square-enix decided to make FF7 for the psone and FF3 remake for the DS. Sometimes this console bashing goes to ppl's heads and messes up their, which makes them think their in control of a company.

 » Sony’s going down; Microsoft’s going up.

Sony’s going down from its PS2’s glory days; MS’s going up from its poorly performed Xbox days. There’s no big mystery in this. One thing is a fact; even if Sony wins this console war with PS3s, Sony won’t dominate the industry like they did with PS2s.
- Xbox: 24 million sold
- PS2: 100m
- X360: 10m
- PS3: 2m shipped and most have been sold
Only 1 year has been elapsed, and MS sold 10m X360s when they have only sold about 24m Xboxes in 5 years.

I have read many different analyses written by those people who research and make statistics; and between the PS3s and the X360s; currently...
(1) MS is offering much better quality support for the 3rd party developers (service).
(2) X360’s developer kits are much easier and more convenient to use (user friendly).
(3) X360 hardware is much easier to make games on (less complex hardware components).
(4) MS had 1 year head start.
- Hardware architecture is much more known to developers.
- Five times more number of X360s was sold
- 5 times more profit for developers.
- MS can cut the price of X360 by $100 in the near future while Sony can’t do that for another year.
- Unmatched number of more games (above $50) has been released (X360: about 350 games, PS3: about 50 so far)
- Xbox (PS3) was released 1 (2) year(s) later than PS2 (X360); Xbox (PS3) was more expensive, bigger, more powerful and less diverse (had less number of games).
(5) So far, so many PS3 exclusive top quality games now moved on to X360 (multi-platform).
(6) X360 has considerably better online support (PS3’s online service only has bare minimums).
(7) X360 console is originally $200 cheaper.
- Based on many surveys, most gaming addicts (X360 owners) mostly use their consoles for playing games; so Blu-ray’s inclusion is a bad business decision.

Because of so many reasons like these mentioned above, there’re only a few outcomes we can see in 2010. Most analysts say that either PS3 or X360 will win the war; and Wii will take 3rd place. The only possible outcomes are as follows.
1. PS3 barely wins.
2. X360 hugely wins.
3. X360 barely wins.

Moreover comparing PS3s and X360s is like comparing dogs and cats. Dogs (PS3s) are smarter, more expensive to buy, more expensive to maintain, living longer (longer lifespan), more powerful, bigger, faster, more useful, et cetera than cats (X360s).

There’s this new horror movie named ‘1408’, and the trailer is exclusively available at Yahoo movie. This movie is one of the scariest and well plotted movies I have seen in recent years.

» Too Bad what you said Hit False in Reality :)

Peter Moore already Annouced that there will be Only 12 Million 360 Units Shipped by June only 1.8 million from what we have now..

The reason behind this is that the 360 aint selling and they need to spend more money on Marketing [basicly paying money to people like the one above to Advertize to the System]

The 360 didnt sell 5 times as more...10.5 million were sold to retailers not to Housholds...only 4.5 million are sold in the US according to NDP

The PS3 and Due to the Cell processor is harder to develop currently, but the good thing s that the cell processor architecture is here to "Stay",meaning its Hard now but by 5 years Developers will get over it with more tools and Better Developement, and the good thing is that the next-Gen Playstation [PS4] will almost certainly use an improved CELL processor,by that Time Development on Cell will be Already Easy and Understood.

On the Other Hand we Dont Know what will be the Processor for the Next-gen Xbox,It Could be Different than the Current Xenon and Developers will Be Confused with a New Design unlike the Next Gen Playstation Which Will Use another Cell [Improved Version]

Basicly, all of the PS3 problems are temporary.....Development is Hard Now,But that is a Time Issue,And most of the 360 Games in the First year are Completly Dissappointing..

To read an Article on the 360 First year read Douglass C.Perry Words on IGN:

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/748/748098p1.html

The 360 is Hyped but on real-Word its Not Moving, the Proof for this is the Decreased number of Shipped Units.....Only 12 Million for June

NDP Numbers

USA
360 + 4.5mil
PS3 + 687k

6.55 times more 360's then PS3's sold in the USA.

The rest of the world owns the other 5-6 million 360's.

Sony should probably follow MS example and lower their March 31st forecast from their 6 million shipped target. They have flooded the market shipping 2 million consoles and demand has dropped off leaving retailers with unmovable stock. With only 60% of their 2 million consoles sold, how can they possible add another 4 million to factory storage and retail shelves by March 31st. Sure the UK launch will help a little, maybe 600k, but the UK launch is scheduled for 23rd March. That's only a week before deadline.

 » biased much?

First, some minor things, ps3 is actually only $100 more, because you'd have to compare 360 premo with ps3 20gb to actually be comparable.Second, sony did lose exclusivity with a few high profile titles.. (well besides virtua fighter and unreal, does it really matter?)
anyways, you forget that 360 is also losing lots of titles that were up to now exclusive. Ninja Gaiden is a noteworthy one that is in fact only going to be on ps3.The head of team ninja even said in an interview that if sigma does well, he might start developing exclusively for sony. I dunno, i thought they were pretty huge for the box.

Finally, you say in the end, the only 3 outcomes will be: ps3 wins by a little, x360 wins by a little, or x360 wins by a lot. How can you claim this from anything going on as of today? You can't say a system will do poorly based on a lousy launch. You just postulate(hope?) Even analysts say ps3 will win in the end.

Not saying 360 can't win by a landslide, but at least use some facts, yea?

I could add that you usually get 2 or 3 titles bundled with the 360.
