Old Solid Snake - Image 1Snake is slowly sneaking stealthily towards the shelves now that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be out on June 12.  With the game's well-deserved hype spawning all kinds of rumors about the game, Konami has decided to reveal a slew of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots product details over at the PlayStation Blog.

First off, the M-rated stealth action game will be released in two packages: the Standard and the Limited Editions. MGS4 will also come out with a Sony PlayStation 3 Hardware Bundle, one each for the two editions.

We've reported the Metal Gear Online beta before and how you need a key in order to enter it. You can retrieve the Unique Product Voucher Code (UPVC) through the pre-order bonus Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2 DVD.

Inside the disc is a lineage video of the Snakes: Naked, Liquid, Solidus and Solid. All the previous MGS4 trailers are also included here.

To remind you about the Metal Gear Online beta, you can download it starting April 17. (Some impatient people are already trying it now - don't!) Gameplay lasts from April 21 to May 5, 2008.

Now on to the bigger guns. Konami provided more details for the Standard Edition of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. But before anything else, here's the final box art (click all images from hereon out for a higher resolution):

That's some slick art for you there from developer Hideo Kojima (and his team) himself. For a rundown of available perks for the Standard Edition. If you have made a pre-order with an affiliated retailer, the Metal Gear Saga Vol.2 DVD we mentioned a while ago is now yours too.
But not only that, you also get the Metal Gear Online "starter pack." Yes, it's just to get you started with your online multiplayer adventures as loads of DLCs are planned in the near future.

But don't worry, the game is complete and is not a demo or a teaser. Some things to look forward to: maps, weapons, items, character creator, SOP system among others.

Next up is another beautiful final box art you've never seen before. This one's for the Limited Edition of MGS4:

You can only get this collectible through GameStop. What do you get with the Limited Edition? All the perks of the Standard Edition of course plus exclusive illustrations from Kojima Productions' Yojio Shinkawa (must-have!).

You also get an extra Blu-ray disc with two behind-the-scenes documentaries of how Metal Gear Solid 4 was created. Trust us, you've never seen these videos before.

If you pre-order the Limited Edition, you will also receive an exclusive MGS 4 Art book. This is too good to pass up. The Limited Edition bundle costs US$84.99.

After detailing the two editions, Konami unveiled the box design for the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PlayStation 3 Hardware Bundle (Standard Edition). If you still have no PS3 for yourself, now's the best time to keep one. Here's the bundle's box:

But Konami is not finished yet. There's also a Limited Edition PS3 Hardware Bundle for MGS 4. Although Konami is holding out the box design for a bit of surprise, the devs are confirming that the North American Limited Edition really exists. This is the one which sold out in a split second. Here is a sneak peek at the PlayStation 3 "Gunmetal Grey."

All's good in the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots front. We hope you didn't get dizzy with the loads of info. Truth be told, we've always wanted these details in the first place. So stay glued here at QJ.NET as we aim to bring you more of them.

too bad the limited edition is so pricey. $85 for a game is too much for me. lucky for me, though, i have a friend who doesn't care so i'll be able to look at most of the extra content anyway :) can't wait! see you all in the beta on the 21st!

That MGS4 will probably sell more copies than World of Warcraft in less than 2 seconds. I mean, wow. Look at all of this. I don't care if you don't even like MGS, and I'm not a hardcore fan but I still follow the main series, and I'm pretty confident that PS3 sales and such will explode come June 12 and onwards.
