SnakeIt's quite natrual how some media would borrow elements from other media these days. Some movies, for example, take a lot from mythology. As such, video games borrow lots of elements from movies as well, and the Metal Gear Solid series is no exception. Check out the full article for Kojima's top picks, and reasons how and why these movies made the cut.

I'm a LEGO - Image 1What's this? Metal Gear Solid 4 Legofied?!? Well, not exactly. I mean, yeah, it's Lego, but it's not really Solid Snake made out of those building blocks (we wish for a life-sized one, though). Instead, it's Snake's favorite weapon, the M1911 Operator Pistol. Yes, Legofied.

Kojima Plans to be Very Involved with Metal Gear Solid Movie - Image 1We don't hear a lot of updates regarding the Metal Gear Solid movie (there's a movie?), so I figured fans would appreciate hearing this bit of news. Creator Hideo Kojima not only intends to be "very involved" with the movie, he is also considering the possibility of a video game tie-in.

MGS4 - Image 1Longtime Metal Gear composer Norihiko Hibino recently revealed the real reason why the iconic Metal Gear theme song was absent in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: plagiarism accusations.

MGS teaser - Image 1Oooh, what a tease. MGS5, is that you? Konami Japan's just put up a site with a flashing message. It alternates between their logo and a green equation with text that reads: "A next Metal Gear is..." There seems to be a bit of Engrish there, but one startling bit (yeah, man, I can totally feel that big red exclamation mark pop above my head now...!) is that the little equation they have there is giving off some Xbox 360 vibe.

PS3 PSP - PlayStation Awards 2008 - Image 1Man. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G just keeps on raking all those prizes and milestones in Japan, doesn't it? And what's the latest award of MHP 2nd G? It just won the Double Platinum prize in SCEJ's PlayStation Awards 2008 ceremonies where developers and publishers were given huge pats on the backs for their excellent PSP, PS3, and/or PS2 games. The event was held just earlier in Japan, with MGS4 and Crisis Core, among others, also bringing home the bacon.

PS3 - Image 1First-time owners of PS3 consoles in Japan are let in on a new kind of promotional campaign. SCEJ has announced that PS3 units in Japan will be getting a freebie disc containing demos and trailers from the PSN. Some choice slabs of meat (i.e. DLC trailers and demos) were compiled and put on discs for the users' convenience: MGS4 demo, LBP trailer, etc. Here's something interesting though: apparently, the RE5 demo is not exclusive to the Xbox 360 in Japan. It's now part of SCEJ's demo discs!

FF13 - Image 1While Sony is having this weird series of ads in the west for the holidays, over at Japan, they're running print ads. Poster girls, poster boys, and even poster sackboys, the lot of them. The posters seen in the full article were spotted in the Shibuya station. (So why again is a non-exclusive RPG part of a brand campaign for the PS3? Hmm... Oh, oh! I know! I know! Let me!)
