Sony PlayStation 3

Gamasutra informs that in light of the February's upcoming NPD US chart – expected on March 15th - Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter has predicted that the Wii will once again outsell the PlayStation 3 with 350,000 units predicted for the Wii over the 200,000 of Sony's PlayStation 3. This may sound bad for Sony, but Pachter does predict that the PlayStation 2 will see continued strong software sales, of as much as US$ 120 million.

Pachter notes that he expects to see PS3 sales to stabilize at 50,000 units per week, and notes that this figure might increase as more game titles are delivered. He also sees the release of Blu-ray movie content as a blessing for PS3 hardware sales, especially with the November release of Spider-Man 3.

Pachter notes that despite recent weakness in publisher stocks due to uncertainty and anecdotal evidence of poor PS3 hardware sales, "investors should remain comfortable owning video game publisher stocks."

» PS3 will dominate this year...

Why do people buy the Wii? That thing is garbage! Oh well... I guess people enjoy paying a lot of money for a motion sensing controller... and old school games.

I will be buying a Wii at the end of March when they become available, if I needed anything else I would also buy the 360 especially as the new 120 gig HDMI looks set to become the premium model in May.

 » 50k a week.

50k a week in the USA for now, sure to keep going up, and a huge launch in the next two weeks which will drop another few million onto the big number. Then there is the christmas season of 07 which will be huge. Looks like sony will be right on the money with 10 million + consoles sold in the same time period as it took ms to sell the 360s.. How can anyone say the PS3 isn't selling?

 » Just one question

How the f*ck are 50,000 units a week supposed to sell with no games? That's WAAAYYY below what sony expected to sell at least. What are people doing with these things? Waiting for PSN Home?

because you guys are f**k*** retards. Sony has a huge fan base which are willing to buy the PS3. Do you think that only teenagers and kids buy games because then you must be a DEE DEE DEE. There are people past 18+ that buy games. I have a relative thats 44 yrs old that has the first Xbox and a PS2. Shes just as addicted to games as any teenager. Also, for those DEE DEE DEE's out there the PS3 plays PS2 and PS games as well. Personally i own 7 games for the PS3, motorstorm, Resistance, Virtua Fighter 5, Need for Speed Carbon, Madden 07, Untold Legends DK. I love to play FREE online games as well.

Why do Adults still insist on buying 'Games only devices' such as the 360 and Wii? I'd much rather have a system cabable of supplying a great gaming experience, Filmatic experiences and an almost one-stop-shop for all my entertainment needs. Surely it's only a matter of time before the sophisticated crowds among us decide to jump on the PS3 band wagon as we have?

 » not exactly

I'm fine watching DVDs for now.
I have a PC for internet access with a much better browser than the PS3.
The PC is much more capable than PS3 linux with much more RAM, true dual core CPU, wider choice of programs available, and better compatibility with other PCs.
I only need a game console, and the XBOX 360 is easily the best one overall. I don't like compatibility problems with computer games or having to upgrade hardware regularly.
Yes I'm an adult.

I'm 25, I have 6 PS3 games and love them all. I have 1 wii game. That says a lot about which system has better software. PS3 will begin to dwarf the Wii soon and maybe bridge the gap with the 360 and hopefully pass it up.

For some reason Nintendo never launches any of their products here in South Africa... So right now the war is on beyween X Box 360 and PS3... The funny thing is all retailers are removing their X Box displays and replacing them with the PS3 promo boxs and stuff...
