For the past couple of weeks, all we ever heard about Grand Theft Auto 4 (PS3, Xbox 360) was news about its delayed release. Finally, we have some good news for all parties concerned! Some new details on Rockstar's upcoming game have just surfaced right out of Game Informer magazine.
We've taken the snippet from GameFront, and since our German translating madskillz are probably as convincingly perfect as a caterpillar trying pass off as Optimus Prime (wtf?), we'd have to resort to Google Translate. Game Informer lists the following details:
The crowds are extremely realistic: you'd see pedestrians buying newspapers at a kiosk, smokers are loitering on corners - some of them might even ask you for a lighter as you pass by.
Taxis won't immediately stop in front of you when you whistle or hail one down. Sitting at the back seat gives you an interior view of the vehicle from the first-person. ("With the Digikreuz one selects a driving goal. With the A-key one jumps over the travel and is immediately at the goal. With X one says to the driver to drive faster with Y steps out one. The right analog stick moves the camera.")
The Jamaican weapons dealer, Little Jacob, must be coerced while going through your tasks. He's got a whole stash of fire power in his trunk and will do business once you establish a good relationship with him.
For the first time ever, calendar days are going to be accounted for in the game; individual work days will also affect your gameplay.
Protection from gun spray will vary depending on what type of material you hide behind.
So much for loose translations. In any case, we are now reassured that the delay isn't so bad after all. Polishing the game to perfection is always better than a premature release.
These features are available since the LAST build of the game. The delay did nothing to that effect. The reason for the delay is 2 fold: PS3 couldn't handle the game, and once Rockstar saw Bioshock, Timeshift, etc. they decided to update the graphics to match actual next-gen like everyone else is starting to do!
the playstation 3 is more powerful then the xbox 360 so why wouldnt it be able to handle the graphics? LMAO

You obviously have no idea whats your talking about. This move will benefit PS3 not 360, after all they just spent 50 million for exclusive content that won't be seen this year.
Killzone 2 graphics owns Gears and thats fact, and its only it alpha state.

» ps3 sucks
everyone know gta4 delayed because of *****ty ps3 .ps3 is garbage
x360 is a piece of $hit - ps3 is stronger, more flexible, and it's also a great Media Center station
Re: ! (Unregistered) - 2007-09-03
» erm....
maybe its delayed because they can't fit the game on to a DVD (lmao) ...... so they need time to compress it- so tht they can put it on the xbox 2 !

Because of the ingame engine, RAGE, has had coding problems which causes a major glitch in the game where no peds or cars spawn, this requires the team to go back and look through every single bit of code to find the problem. Because it is an Engine problem, that means the problem exists on both the PS3 and the 360. Sorry fanboys, you can't get a war out of this.
yea uhh just because the ps3 is capable of being more powerful(really it isnt only sony and people in their pockets say that). @ash Where did you get this info? Really i hate to say it but theres no way they could have a glitch that big come out that late in dev time, atleast not a glitch that would cause this long of a delay, its obvious you know nothing about game development. You sound like a sony fanboy justifying the delay. The delay was because there having trouble with the PS3 copy of the game. Instead of delaying just that version they delayed both. Really you should be glad they didnt send out ANOTHER lagging game for ps3.
ok, why would rockstar have problems developing for the ps3, if they have developed for sony for so long. Also, wouldnt it be easier developing for ps3 considering they are guaranteed that every ps3 owner will have a hdd which they can use to their advantage. And no, im not a fan boy, ill play every console, so, dont try and say that i am one.
Rockstar would have problems devin for ps3 because the architecture is completely unique, and with bad tools at that. The amount of time they put into the ps2/ps1 wont make them more competent with the ps3 and its tools. EVERY dev is struggling with it, its not some secret. Really having a hard drive does help, it alows them to do more not work quicker/easier.

So many fan boys, your each an embarrassment to your own kind. PS3 that, 360 this! We all know in reality the Super Nintendo is still the most powerful system. You just have to admit it.
