Guncon 3 - Image 1 Here's a bit of bad news, for those of us who want to play Time Crisis 4 on the Sony PlayStation 3 the way it's meant to be played (i.e. with 2 players) - it's impossible to purchase a GunCon 3 on its own, which means you'll have to buy another Time Crisis 4 bundle in order to truly experience some next-gen lightgun shooting. Boo!

This info comes from a representative in Namco Bandai's Live Support Chat Supercenter Headquarters. Apparently, a player was asking where a second GunCon 3 controller could be purchased for some multiplayer Time Crisis 4 joy. The representative answered that the GunCon 3 is not sold separately, and could only be purchased as a bundle with Time Crisis 4.

The enterprising player then asked if Namco Bandai sold replacement gun controllers instead, in case someone accidentally "breaks" his or her GunCon 3. The response? Namco Bandai doesn't sell replacement GunCon 3s, but they will repair or replace your GunCon 3 if it's defective. Huh.

Well, that's it, then. If Time Crisis 4 players want to enjoy the game as it's meant to be enjoyed - that is, two players with a GunCon 3 each - then you'll have to buy another copy of the game to do so. A bit disconcerting, but hopefully we'll be able to see some third-party GunCons stepping up to fulfill this need.

You've never been able to buy a GunCon separately unless you bought one used from a game store.

Why is this news? And when was it an expectation that they were sold separately?

I've owned all of them since the PSOne version and I've only gotten 2nd guns through used sales not new.

Perhaps someone could explain to me how this actually is SUPPOSED to be an expectation.

I agree with Jin, (not that i care if CRS buys it or not anyways, Don't even know him/her.) But you could never get them new as he said, only used. Plus, What diff. does it make if two friends have the same game? they'll have two then as it stands.

 » So What?

That's irrelevant Kaden. It's ridiculous to put a co-op mode into a game and then not make the second controller available. It's presumptuous of Namco to believe that people want to play their game SO badly that they'll just spend whatever money they have on as many games/controllers is needed. Same thing is going on with Guitar Hero... WHERE the hell are the seperate PS3/Wii Guitars. Just frustrating is what all this crap is.

I agree with you as well on that front, I do think that they should be sold seperately for some fee. (GH and the GunCon) I can see where you are coming from and all, so, I understand. my thing is, if two friends have the same game, then its not a problem. Its only a problem if you have one game and one friend who wants to play along with you. Which then you'd have to plunk down an extra 60 bucks or whatever it is for the game or try to find a used GunCon for the system When an extra peripheral off of the shelf for like, 20-30$ would've done just fine.

 » A little disapointing but...

I will just wait until the next Guncon 3 game comes out and buy the bundle with that game. That way I don't have duplicate games and I don't have to trade the game in at a store not realizing they won't be able to sell it on its own.

 » And another thing....

Whenever I see game companies that obviously could care less about the the wishes of its consumers I gotta think "Man! these guys must be making REALLY decent cash and CAN'T be worried about where the money's comming for in the future." I mean yeah this IS the way its always been, but really, do they LOSE money by selling the gun con separately? I don't think so. They're simply more concerned with doing buisness their own way rather then making us the gamers happy. Because they know that in the end we're GONNA buy it anyway.
