GTA4 - Image 1

For those of us disappointed with the delay of Rockstar's upcoming epic, Grand Theft Auto 4 for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360, then here's something to tide us all over until the fateful day arrives. Here's a handful of screenshots that not only look good, but show off just what sort of firepower we'll be dealing with when we fire the game up on our consoles.

The game's architecture is definitely showcased here, with most of the screenshots shot in a wide angle. There's also the deal with the daytime and nighttime effects in terms of lighting - and frankly, it looks realistic enough that you might be able to tell in-game time by the game's lighting effects alone. If that isn't next-gen, we don't know what is.

Enjoy the screenshots!

 » Hey just a question

Does anyone know if building will be able to show case damage. And will cars have a damage as well, like in Burnout Paradise, the damage physics were quite amazing for a demo. Cause Next gen should feature that in my opinion.

 » HUH

The cars in any grand theft auto game have always had damage, the visual effects have gotten better each time around, but it's always been there.

 » True but

Remember when the cars blow up it looks like its still there, in real life its really gets destroyed.

Don't know but i feel Burnout Paradise had better Damage Physics than any GTA game. The crashes just looked so real. And next Gen.

» Of course BP had better damage physics

It came out more than 3 years after the last GTA and was designed with destroying cars in mind.

As for your questions, I'm certain IV will have a completely re-vamped car damage system which is much better than in any other GTA (probably not quite Burnout quality tho), but I doubt the environment, buildings and the like, will be destructible. The game world in GTA is just too big for that to be a possibility. But I'm sure it'll be more the result of firing a rocket at a building will be more than a black scorch mark like in past GTAs

» Whoops, got a bit messed up there

Meant to say

But I'm sure the result of firing a rocket at a building will be more than a black scorch mark like in past GTAs. Hopefully stuff like windows will shatter when you shoot them

» Uhh QJ's got to start wording differently

Every game I read about starts off "THose p1ssed by the latest delay" and it always makes me assume there's been another delay (besides the one from last october in this case) and there isn't. So stop it already.
