Haze - Image 1German gaming news website GameFront has managed to score some info on Free Radical and Ubisoft's upcoming shooter Haze courtesy of the June 2007 issue of Independent PlayStation Magazine.

According to GameFront, Haze runs on its own engine at a framerate of 30 fps. Loading times and "intermediate sequences" are supposedly nonexistent. It has four gameplay modes: online, offline, LAN, and split-screen. In single player, team members will be controlled completely by the computer. Oh, and the main character seems to have undergone a name change. While he was referred to as Jake Carpenter in previous interviews, the GameFront post mentions him as "Shan" Carpenter.

The weapons and gear available in the game include the following:
  • BSW-72 Assault Rifle - fires armor-piercing 5.56mm uranium projectiles
  • Trooper Assault Helmet - supplies real-time data to troopers on the battlegrounds while keeping constant contact with the base through a built-in communication device
  • Nectar administrator - found on the neck of soldiers. Has up to five doses of Nectar, a "biometric substance" that greatly augments a soldier's combat abilities. Too much Nectar has side effects, though.
  • SK3 Fragment Shells - ideal for clearing up massed enemies and destroying small vehicles
  • Wilson D6 Pistol - equipped with 2x magnification and a laser target and holds 18 shots.
  • Integrated Schutzpanzer - no idea what "Schutzpanzer" means exactly, but the description leads us to believe that this is the heaviest armor in the game ("withstands the most rifle and pistol balls")
Haze is slated for a multiplatform release on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. A specific release date has yet to be announced, but some sites have the game's release listed as November.

yea, your guess was quite right. "Schutzpanzer" is german and basicly means nothing more than Armor, or something heavier like a full-body armor.

I'm from germany so i guess i should be quite sure about that xD

Apart from that, really nice to hear something new about Haze, sounds really promising so far.

 » Ok, Calm Down Fanboys - X360 Vs. PS3

When I visit online gaming sites like QJ and others, I read so many many many many comments and forum threads which are purely about Microsoft Vs. Sony. Since I’m not a fanboy for any one particular party (because I own all consoles: Wii, PS3, X360, PS2, Xbox, GameCube, DS, PSP, and a gaming-PC), I will talk about exactly what to expect from the major console makers (I’ll only discuss on X360 and PS3 since these two are the major leading parties in this so-called next-gen console war).

Let’s only talk about impending titles (before Sep. 2007) due to the fact that it’s absurd to dispute about those titles which will be out like 1 or 2 years later.

For X360 fanboys, my recommendation to you is to buy PS3 consoles, period.
(Only the blockbuster exclusives from now to Sep. 2007)
- Ratchet & Clank: Walt Disney meets Pixar, expected review score: 92
- Lair: cinema quality motion, score: 81
- Warhawk: has potential to be better than Unreal Tournament 3, score: 93
- Heavenly Sword: next-gen God of War 3, score: 95
- Killzone 2: next-gen Half-Life 3 meets Black, score: 97
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma: cinema quality graphics, score: 89
- LittleBigPlanet: (in late 2007), cute little..., score: 82
- Monster Kingdom (Folks Soul): (in late 2007), game editors were mesmerized by the graphics, score: 89
- Mobile Suit Gundam Musou: score: 45...!!!
- Tekken 6: score: 89
- Metal Gear Solid 4: (in late 2007), I need 10 pages to describe on this title... score: 98
- Resistance 2 (confirmed): (in 2008), score: 93 (Resistance 1 got average review score of 89.4 from 115 different publications)
- White Knight Story: (in 2008), game editors were mesmerized by this new intellectual property, score: 94
- Gran Turismo 5: (in 2008), is being built from scratch, score: 95
- Final Fantasy XIII: (in 2008), no need to explain on this, score: 97
- Final Fantasy versus XIII: (in 2008), action RPG, score: 91
- Eight Days: (in 2008), extremely advanced in the technology department, score: 88
- Getaway: (in 2008), so many game reviewers said Getaway can be better than GTA4, score: 95
- God of War 3 (confirmed): (in 2008), no need to explain, score: 98
- Afrika: (in 2008), Afrika will have the most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) in the entire history of computer and video games based on the advertisement from the developers... score: 92 (I like this new first person shooter game! Shoot them up! Shoot the animals up! Sorry, ^^; I couldn’t resist... Afrika is a 3rd person Safari maintenance game...)
- PS3 Home: one of those a few revolutionary intellectual properties in this industry, score: not a game but... 92
- Jak and Daxter: (in 2008), no need to explain, score: 95
- Uncharted-Drake's Fortune: (in 2008), no need to explain, score: 92
- Heavy Rain: (in 2008), life-like character animation & graphics, score: 92

For PS3 fanboys, my recommendation to you is to buy X360 consoles, period.
(Only the blockbuster exclusives from now to Sep. 2007)
- Halo 3: a must-have for all game addicts, expected review score: 81
- Bioshock: has some chance to be a legend, score: 91
- Forza 2: gorgeous graphics, score: 90
- Fable 2: (in 2008), score: 82 (Fable 1 got average review score of 80.2 from 97 different publications)
- Too Human: (in 2008), score: 57
- Mass Effect: (in 2008), score: 63

You fanboys now understand why you need to buy both X360 & PS3. In the last-gen war, statistically PS2 dominated the planet called the earth based on the number of consoles sold (5: 1: 1 = PS2: Xbox: GameCube ratio). That was why Sony fanboys only had to buy PS2 and never needed to buy the original Xbox. All those countless number of exclusive triple-A titles were on the PS2. However, in this new-gen war, so many professional analysts predict that the winner will not dominate the whole industry like the PS2 and PS1 did. That’s why so many 3rd party companies don’t make exclusive titles for either Sony or MS. Most of them go for multi-platform to earn most dollars. Because of this fact, there will be no absolute and dominating winner in this war;
