According to an email from an EA producer that went out to the gaming industry it looks like they are currently hiring for future Sims projects. Where it gets interesting is when they mention they're looking for a "PS3 Engineer". While not definitive proof (and EA's comment on the matter is that "We do not comment on rumors or speculation.") it would seem to indicate that a PS3 version of the series is planned. It's also interesting to note that there is no mention of hiring Xbox 360 or Revolution engineers.

Considering that the Sims is one of the best selling franchises in videogame history (more so on PC than consoles) having sold more than 58 million copies (moo!), it's not too difficult to see why EA would continue the lucrative franchise into the next generation.

I'm not a terribly huge fan myself. While I admire Will Wrights attention to detail, I don't consider micr- management fun. There's a fun element to all the games, like the movies, the Sims, Sim City, etc, but then they just begin to spiral out of control to the point that it becomes a chore to keep things up. Still the Sims are wilr
