Resident Evil 5 - Image 1

"Chris, I said re-boot. As in boot with a T. BOOT."

Considering that Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi previously said that the next installment in the Resident Evil franchise would be a reboot, having an RE6 released in four or five years may not be so surprising. To have it released in eight years, however, may raise some eyebrows though.

In an interview with the Gadget Show (see Via link below for video), Resident Evil 5 producer Masachika Kawata honestly stated that the next installment for RE may be quite a ways off.

We haven't decided whether we're going to make Resident Evil 6 yet. But if we do, it could take anywhere up to eight years, but hopefully only four.

See, with a franchise reboot, they'd have to rework the gameplay system, the story, the characters, and lots of entire elements in their formula. For all intents and purposes, it's almost as if reboots are done by building from the ground up all over again, depending on how far you define "reboot" as.

So for now, it looks like we should enjoy the latest RE game (or previous others too) for all that it's worth - it's going to be a looong wait for the next one.

I wonder what kind of story the reboot will have though. Maybe they'll follow the one set in the Milla Jovovich movies? Hmm... Nah. Let's just hope the world won't end in 2012 before this baby comes out.

hahaha! You guys beat me to it! Damn! But anyways, yeah, it's been edited now. A result of my timewarped brain and dyslexia. Sorry bout that! ;-)

But yeah, who knows? Maybe Resident Evil already existed a century ago? Who knows - Umbrella Crop's kung fu is just that powerful, I wouldn't be surprised if they had roots in the Illuminati. ^_^

Please don't make it like Onimusha Dawn of Dreams. That has got to be the one of the worst move Capcom made last Gen. Worst reboot and the only one I know so far.

 » Cheap marketing ploy

8 years? --If you believe that one, I've got your choice of a large bridge in New York, some swampland in Florida, or some Mortgage-backed Bonds to sell you.

This sounds like a really cheap way to say, "Buy as much Resident Evil 5 as you can, now .....because there will be no more! Ever! I swear!"

I'm sure that the next RE installment is ALREADY at least 3-6months in development. ;-O

they say that so lightly as if we can go 2 bed 2night n wake up tomorrow in 4 to 8 years from now..

it has been a very tiring hopeful long wait for about 5 years for RE5............i almost feel like if i have 2 wait another 2 years 4 it to come out the world will end
