Insomniac Games - Image 1

The arrival of PlayStation 3 firmware 2.40 heralds a new age to a lot of us owners of the console. One reason for that is the implementation of Trophies which we can gun for in our favorite games. However, the reality may be less gratifying than what we thought it would be as some developers of hit titles announced that they do not have plans to add Trophies via updates.

Infinity Ward has announced via its official forums that Trophies are a no-go in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The case is the same with Insomniac Games as they declared that Trophies won't be coming to hits like Resistance: Fall of Man and Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

This was the message posted by Fourzerotwo of Infinity Ward:

At this time, we have no plans to patch in Trophy support for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the PS3. Much like DualShock rumble addition to the PS3, the support for these new features have come much to late for us to add it to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare due to our current production schedule. We would have loved to have these in the game at launch if the support was available, or shortly after.

Uh, yeah, okay Infinity Ward. Moving on, this is Insomniac's response to questions about Trophies on their latest blog post:

Currently, there are no plans to add trophies to R1 and RCF. Right now, our No. 1 focus is finishing R2 and making it the best game possible.

There you have it. Similar statements coming from Infinity Ward and Insomniac. Let's hope they decide on adding Trophy support when they're not too busy making new games.

 » CoD4 is a "No-Go"

I thought Infinity Ward stated that they would not be making HOME or Trophy support, back then In-Game, Trophy, and HOME was confirmed.

R2 plans to have Trophy support, but R1,..they might patch it.

 » im pissed

im a bit pissed with cod4, i dont really care about RFOM, but that leaves me with the only game that i have trophy support up and coming is warhawk, and i havnt played that game since the first day i got it, its boring

anyway i hope that atleast R* will do something

also IF BETTER GIVE US IN-GAME MUSIC
i dont understand why theyve ceased development on cod4 its still a very new game and cod5 is still some distance away, but the main reason i dont understand is IF isnt making cod5 TREYARCH is, so who has what role to play in updating cod4

i guess activsion isnt willing to pay IF to continue the support of patches

i dont know, as i dont know, who has what role to play in games development

Well that blows ass. These are the three games I was hoping to have trophies for.

This feature has just dropped from exciting to just another feature.

Is there a list anywhere of games that DO support this?

They shouldn't have released this firmware until more games supported trophies. (Also until they got all the bugs out.)

Stupid Sony.

 » well

you have to take these things with a grain of salt. i cant recall but i am sure there was a time when sony let out a press release that they had 'no plans at the moment' to create in game XMB. just give it time. those game companies tend to be a small hand full of people working on the code for hours on end. if they want to meat the dead line then they have to allocate all of their resources full time to that effort. im sure once they finish whatever new games they are working on, they will try to meet that demand.
