They said exactly the same about MGS2 (I was on the forums at the time). And then, after the PS2 version was released, the so-called impossible happened, Konami announced MGS2 will be coming to the XBox, and it did.
And before you talk about sales, the XBox version didn't sell as well as the PS2 version because there were FAR fewer XBox consoles than PS2 consoles (and always has been).
Hence I think there are enough clues around to suggest that MGS4 on the 360 is very likely to happen, but it will not be announced until the PS3 version is released (or just before release).

PS3 is a theater, and MGS4 will debute on it, after a few months, it will be on the 360, which he called a DVD player. So in actual terms, he confirmed it back then, just as new films come out in the theater, a few months later they are released on DVD for people to watch at home.

Well this year I plan on getting Uncharted, Ratchet + Clank, Haze, Warhawk, Madden and NBA Live, Heavenly Sword, GTA 4. Pain and some other psn titles look pretty good, so I don't think I'll have a problem finding good games. You heard it straight from Hideo Kojima a million times, the XBOX 360 is a DVD player, and he said himself that the XBOX 360 can't handle the game due to the fact it doesn't support Blu-Ray, and the disc capacity for Metal Gear Solid 4 is 50GB. Now tell me, how in hell is a 50GB game going to fit in a 9GB DVD? No way in hell. Also, Hideo Kojima controls what platform the title goes, not Konami.

ever heard of mass effect that games massive with far better graphics and thats gonna be on dvd. and if worst came to worst and they just got lazy they could put it on two discs so 1 time through the game i would have to move two meters forward and change the disc simple!

The 12x DVD drive in the 360 is on average FASTER than the 2x Blu-ray drive in the PS3. That's a fact.
Blu-ray reads at a constant 9MB/s, however 12x dual-layered DVD reads at up to 16.62MB/s on the outer edge and down to around 8MB/s on the inner edge. So for the first GB of data, the PS3 is a little faster, but after that, the 360 is progressively faster at reading data. Hence devs greatly improve performance on DVD by putting important data on the outside tracks of the DVD, and use the inner tracks for data where speed isn't that important, such as audio for realtime cinematics and video files.
This was also done last gen, including using dummy files on the inner tracks for games which didn't fill the DVD, therefore 'pushing' the game data out onto the faster tracks.
For the PS3, they don't have this option, therefore to improve read performance they have to use the HDD instead (probably one of the reasons it is included as standard).
