Dashhacker has finally released a public beta for Open Remote Play, an app that lets you access the PS3's Remote Play feature from your laptop, desktop, or even your phone. This is good news, but only for Mac users as the beta is currently only for Mac OS X. Non-Mac users need not worry, though, as the dev says that the API and the Windows version will be released soon.
Please note that you need to have a homebrew-enabled PSP to export the Remote Play settings. Before you install the Open Remote Play Beta it is strongly advised that you read the readme file bundled with the download first. After that, read it again just to make sure you didn't miss anything. For those who don't have a Mac, here's a video of Open Remote Play in action: Download: Open Remote Play v1.0 Beta for Mac OS X Related articles:

Your sarcasm makes you look stupid, the point is you will be able to access the content of your PS3 from your pc/mac without the need for your psp, wifi drains battery on your psp, the option to access your ps3 from multiple devices is better than being limited to one.

No, his sarcasm is dead on. What's the point of this, you can access your videos from your pc, just put them on your thumb drive. They should have made something that emulates Remote Play on your pc so you can stream movies to your psp. At least that would be useful, this is just stupid. The only thing I think this would be good for is if you want to remotely start downloads using a pc or phone but none of this is worth leaving your PS3 on 24/7.

The point is you can store much more on the ps3 hard drive than a "thumb drive". And access your content from anywhere in the world on tour laptop or computer. Or even give friends the address and let them watch some movies. It'll be like a media server. I myself am planning to finally be able to get some screenshots via this method.

» Weighing the uses
Pros:
1. I can talk to my psn friends on the move via my laptop OR download content from the ps Store to my ps3.
2. Screenshots of the XMB or the few and far between games which support Remote Play (Lair)
3. for those with less space on their laptop hd than the ps3 hd (can't imagine why, i have 250 GB in my laptop and 80 GB in my ps3...) they can use it to view content on their ps3.
Cons
1. contrary to sirgrinalot i actually have all my videos on my laptop and stream them to my ps3 via media server, not stream them from my ps3 to my laptop via remote play
2.

I have a model CECHE01 with a 500gb hd. So in a addition to doing all the listed things above and store massive amounts of content, I can play metal gear through remote play :) or any other psx game not on the psn in english.

I like this ALOT! I have multiple psp's and I would use this on my notebook when away from home and on friends computers. I know that many people will find this useful.

» question
can you play remote play games using this? since nobody has mentioned pixeljunk games or bionic commando re armed I thought maybe that hasn't been implemented yet, and the guy in the video didn't run any games. I can't wait till this comes out on pc so I can check the singstore and all the singstar content on the pc
