In order to help in the fight against cancer, researchers at Stanford University and the folks from Sony Computer Entertainment America, have teamed up to bring the Folding@Home project to the PS3. The said project helps researchers study the folding and misfolding of human proteins, the results of the study can help increase the understanding of the cause of diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and cystic fibrosis. |

take that Jack Thompson
ha this is grate, i really with the guy who made the ps3 song would see this (hes a *****)
Everyone knew this was going to happen anyway so nothing new.
But just shows that when something is coded properly for the Cell, it runs several times better.
I doubt any other console could run this application as well as the PS3 and allow visual manipulation.
Not even my friends Core2Duo Extreme Edition can render folding@home as quick as the video showed.
All the haters like you guys are saying can put this in there M$ pipe and smoke it.
i rendering folding at home and it like running at like some cheep piece of ***** lol this is a nice way to fight cancer and i mean this si sa great way to advertidse your product make it for gamers and make parents no that there kids are fighting cancer wow completely genius !!!!!! kudos to sony
My internet is on 24/7, and my PS3 hasn't taken a huge bite in my power bill, so I might run this for the sake of humanity. The big holdup is that the system has to idle to do this.
So, to be a good samaritan I have to cut my game time with R:fom, Motorstorm, and Virtual Fighter 5. And when the PS3 gets better games like Warhawk, Lair, Heavenly Sword, and Jericho, I'm going to feel more and more guilty about playing them =(
gotta do somethin with a Playstaton3 cuz theres no games for it
there are plaent of games and it has a better line up than xbox 360 i have both consoles and it does have great games like resistance and motorstorm i will agree that there arnt many games that i like that are out now but there are lots to choose from and many more in the coming months ur just an xbox fanboy jelous that the ps3 is getting all the press
Um, yeah you do know that sony probably pays o be published in the press?
The PS3 is worth so much more money, gawd SONY really made a great system. Right now I am enjoying using my PS3 with YDL and some of the game demos ;D also the fact that I can watch blue-ray movies without having to buy a standalone blue-ray player just makes the PS3 that much better... and now fighting cancer and other diseases... JEBUS CRIST PS3 ROCKS!
what the hell man, I'm a sony fanboy too but you sound like a freaking plant.
This is amazing, i can't believe that i might find a cure for cancer! Who cares, the probability of finding a cure is as good a chance that ps3 will win the console wars. XBOX 360!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS3 cant even hold its own in this years console race so how could it possible find a cure for cancer. XBOX 360!!!!!!!!
If everyone was as stupid as you, we wouldn't have even found a cure for diarrhea yet. Leave it to a fanboy (of any system) to try and put a negative spin on something that could save lives.
Check out the comparison of Folding@Home on a PC and PS3, PS3 is way better:

Now that PS3 has something it can finally do better than most other machines they can sell it as a folding protien calculator! Instead of sony making it out to be some kind of game machine or media center, they can put "online protien folding calculator" on the box! It could be sold as a charitable donation for a tax write off.
LETS ALL HELP KILL..........................
