PS3 Accessories - Image 1  PS3 Accessories - Image 3

Yesterday we reported on the PS3 Sixaxis controller, PS3 remote and the USB memory card adaptor announcing their prices; ¥ 5,000 (US$ 43) for the Sixaxis;  (¥ 1,500 or US$ 13) for the USB Memory Card Adaptor; and finally ¥ 3,600 or US$ 31 for the Blu-ray Disc Remote. The Sixaxis, or DualShock 3 as manyPS3 Accessories - Image 2 gamers prefer, looks much like it did at E3 which is just like the Dual Shock2 controller really. The USB Memory card reader looks like it has just been cut out of a PS2 and had a USB cable attached to the back of it, but will enable you to use your PS2 savegames on your PS3.

If the next generation DVD format war goes well for Sony, this Blu-ray Disc remote is something that we'll be seeing more of in the future. This device will be used to control the beast-like 50GB Blu-ray discs using the PS3's integrated Blu-ray reader.

The remote contains the usual X, Circle, Triangle and Square buttons that Playstation fans will be accustomed to as well as some color buttons, which will presumably be used for menu navigation alongside the usual stop, play, and pause buttons. The interesting thing is that this controller even includes the R1/2, L1/2, buttons - the four that you would usually see on the back end of a PS2 controller. What will they be used for? We'll have to wait and see when we finally get our hands on the PS3 in November.

$43 dollars for a controller. I'm OK with this built in recharge batteries and six axis. What more can I want ? Adding the rumble feature not only will add more to the price $5 or $10 assuming but then the controller itself will need to change to fit all the parts. I'm glad that SONY added the six-axis feature and took rumble away

I like the look of the new remote! The PS2 remote had so many useless buttons! I never used even a 1/3 of them!!!

Also, the PS2 memcard adapter at $13? Awesome!

 » Nice prices

For one the Controller price is cheaper then i thought it would be. PS2 Dualshock is still 30 bucks. for 15 bucks more after tax, I get a controller thats alot better then the old one. Thats a deal right there.

» Remote Control as a WiiMote

i'm betting that you will be able to use the PS3 Remote control as a WiiMote for the PS3, which should explain all the controller buttons on it.

it might work with the EyeToy 2 (anyone remember that patent that sony released a few weeks ago, about how the eyetoy 2 can use a "rod" to act basically as a wiimote?), or it might have motion sensing capabilities too.

lol
