Both sold out in many locations, so neither launch could live up to its full potential. All this piece of news shows is that Sony had lots of PS3s, and there was a good level of demand. (Well done to Sony for finally pulling it off, BTW. ;-)

The regular XBOX is no longer made and support is gone as well. Probably a lot of XBOX fans went to the 360 by now. PS3 has this many people who purchased one and many people are still waiting because the PS2 is not dead yet. It is just a matter of time before mass conversion begins.

Whats odd is that I still can't walk in and buy a Wii, but I can walk into any retailer in town and pick up a PS3. In one store where I live they have more PS3's than 360's in stock.

Considering how low tech the Wii is, is doesn't say much for their manufacturing process. There is no ground breaking technology. It's off the shelf components. They could be keeping the numbers low to induce a false shortage. Then as soon as units show up, they are snapped up, because they are limiting supply.

stupid nintendo fanboys go get a life, i bet you anything prior to humping the wii you owned a ps2 and as soon as nintendo and microsoft made some success you jumped ships cause you are all cowards, Nintendo is weak and im sick of their antics sacrificing quality for useless innovative novelties wtf first with the DS... lol like 5 - 10 3D games and the rest are either 2D snes games or cel shaded *****, then the pathetic wii which seriously the novelty wore off far too soon for my liking, the wii is really good for collecting dust as it is graphically inferior to both the PS3 and X360... oh and with the 360 what the hell is with the fan on it, seriously its louder than any standard sound system freaking thing cant even last 1 hour of oblivion before it starts having a fit and overheating...

i just want to say that everyone who settled with a Wii or a 360 are just bitter cause they just can't afford the PS3... that's the fact here... they keep on dissin Sony on this or that but the thing is they just can't afford it and they're trying to justify why they're better off by not having it. they are making so much noise now in dissin Sony cause they know in the future they won't be able to do so cause the PS3 has the lifespan which a REAL NEXT GEN console should have...

Hey people.....can we stop the clash of which is better between Wii and playstation 3 , its obvious that its two different markets. It might be true that ps3 sold alot of consoles, but it didnt do too badly in the US besides the stock shortages and the shooting and all.... the fact is that sales have declined. also as it stands, no console that did well in its first 5 months has ever failed as a console....so wii is set...maybe ps3 is ....not sure and xbox360 will have to prove itself as the competition heats up. it still stands to reason though that if you grab all the consoles and compare them to the ACTUAL (non hype) sales of the DS they still dont compare.....even the PSP sold better than the ps3 last month. its not the release thats important, its the sustainability. graphics was never the hold on the market.....its fun......PSP did well on release in the UK.... but the best selling handheld in the world easily is the DS ( check the NDP reports)..... so dont get side tracked by the release.....its the follow through that counts......i dont want to see sony dropped further behind so it will be good if this statement is true.....but sony has a long way to go.
