PS3For PlayStation fans that are wanting to get a hold of a PlayStation 3 early, a US based auction site is putting up 10 of them later this month. Could this be a sign of the release of the PS3?

The auction site Uniqueauction.com  could be a boon for gamers desperate to get their hands on a PlayStation 3. Unlike traditional auctions, the auctions at Uniqueauction.com are capped at 20% above retail price. The nearest bidder under this 20% cap wins the auction.

With this in mind, it means people will also be able to get an indication of the expected retail price of the PlayStation 3. From our other sources this seems to align itself with Sony launching later this month, or early April, which goes against the current general feeling of the media in the industry.

Some additional info has turned up, with an interview with Uniqueauctions spokesperson Scott Ledingham over at PS3News. The plot thickens.

this is going to be intersting, didn't another website do the same with the xbox 360 and told the people later that they would ship the Xbox 360s when they come out?

people who believe this are crazy, why would sony do that? that would be the dumbest thing ever. They might barely get the product in time, and now theres rumors to come out this month. You need advertising and all that stuff, for this type of stuff the stupidest thing to try to do is be quiet, even a few months before release.

Here's a quick quote from the original article (caps added to emphasize how dumb you are): "...the site will auction off ten PS3 consoles LATER THIS MONTH..."

 » this month?

why this month? who says its this month? i didn't read the whole article but it still feels like guesswork in my opinion. i'd like to sell someone my ps3 for a million pounds and i'll post it when they're released... may the bidding begin (from a million pounds up)

 » Already in production?

If they can recieve a console within a few weeks, then that must mean that the ps3 is ready for production (or already in production)? But this would go against alot of news posted on the site... According to the interview, only one person will get the ps3 before the official release date, the others have to wait. This must mean the official release date is soon, since you wouldnt really want to wait months for your ps3.. or would u lol? Well I guess only time will tell...
