Live PlayStation is reporting that the latest issue of PSW Magazine (PlayStation World) of UK is hinting that a PS3 price cut will be announced at this year's upcoming TGS. Maybe this will placate Activision's Bobby Kotick?
According to the site, the article says: "Expect the long-awaited price chop to be announced at the Tokyo Games Show." There was no mention of an inside source, as rumors are wont to do, and this one oddly sounds more like a certain "Yeah, I know what am talking about" piece. Still, how certain it is, we'll only find out when the event happens. Hmmm... maybe this was what Sony meant when they said the E3 was not the place for the price cut announcements. It's because they were saving it for the TGS! Maybe.
Meanwhile, the price cut is not the only thing we should probably be looking out for at TGS. The same magazine was also reported to say that a confirmation of the PS3 Slim will also be made in Tokyo. The mag said: "The PS3 Slim packaging looks almost identical to the the confirmed PSP Go, so it isn't a fake. Expect the smaller, lighter PS3 to be announced at th Tokyo Games Show in September, just in time for Xmas." To our readers in UK, did any of you grab a copy of this mag? Any more details would be greatly appreciated. Until we hear anything official, we're tagging this as rumor. This year's Tokyo Games Show is happening from September 24 to September 27 in the Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan. Stay tuned for more leaks updates on this one. Related Articles:

I'm just generalizing, the ps2 had a chronic DVD drive problem which plagued pretty much every ps2 released for the first couple of years. I have two ps2's, both can't play CD's/PS1 games.
This obviously didn't affect ps2 sales.

it doesn't matter what the slim costs to make, Sony wants the price point to remain at $400. They need to make money after all their losses.
The price drop will be for the Original PS3 to get rid of the stock, the Slim will probably be at least $400

I really don't know why americans cry about the price of the ps3, here in Europe we pay about 560$ (yes, 560!) for the same console (500$ if you import it from the UK to the eurozone) !

Sony is runned by a bunch of people who do not wish to let people in on there marketing strategies.
You do know that your as naive as a child to believe Sonys outrageous lies like oh theres no redesign in the works.
Let me tell you a secret little boy, I know Sony like reading a book.
Originally the PS3 Slim was slated for Last christmas but because Toshiba took too long on the 45nm shrinkage for the chips, BOTH OF THEM! They had to delay the Slim to this year.
I've known about the Slim for about 2 years, whether you believe me or not is up to you but your naive to think Sonys admitting truth, when they say theres no redesign.
Like I say to everyone who gets in MY way, I always win the games I create. I created this game.
The chinese thing, everything was a marketing ploy made by Sony.
When I say this stuff is TRUE, I MEAN ITS TRUE, FACT IS FACT!
I hate having to repeat myself over and over and over again.
You really are enjoyable to see, when you say "OMG its a chinese knock off" Playing with all of you is fun after awhile but you really have no right to underestimate me.

And just to tell you, just about ALL of us knew a PS3 slim was coming the day the PSP got, or was rumored to get one. Its just common sense. PS2 got a slim, PSP got a slim, what do you think the PS3 will get in the future? Not too hard to figure out.

I know that I can't have a slim ps2 because I like to play FF XI , so if I needed a new ps2, I'd have to go out of my way to find the nice Fat one. It's pretty hard finding those.
My only real big gripe i have about the ps3 is that they are not doing ANYTHING for backwards compatability on these later versions of the console. I understand taking out hardware to make it cheaper, but if they made a softare emulator to play these games and sell it for like, 2.99 or 3.99 or hell, even make it free, I know i'd do it, just for the fact that I could finally retire my ps2 like I did my original square ps1.
With it goin slim, I just hope that they don't start dropping features off of it. like, no wi-fi models or something like that.

Instead of removing features they might add them. Remember with all the PSP slims they always added new features and built in hardware. This time around I'm not exactly sure what they're planning to do... I just hope they make it good and totally eliminate this yellow light problem.
