GTA IV - Image 1 We're sure you all want to know more new details on Grand Theft Auto IV. And that's just exactly what we have for you today. The latest issue of UK magazine PSM3 has just devoted a spanking twelve full pages of exclusive preview goodies from GTA IV, and it's certainly out to get your blood pumping and wanting for more.

As it is a PlayStation magazine, the information obviously are based on the PS3 version of the game. And this is precisely what makes this issue a major breakthrough in the realm of GTA IV - because this is actually the first time that any journalist has seen the PS3 version of the game.

Anyhow, on to the juicy, juicy, delectable tidbits:

  • The faster you tap X, the faster Niko runs. He doesn't appear to get tired
  • Major collisions on motorbikes cause the helmet to fall off. You can see it fall onto the ground.
  • They previewed a mission called "To Live and Die in Alderney," which is the second part of "Truck Hustle". The second mission is called "Jamaican Heat," and acts as a tutorial for the new cover/targetting system. The third mission is called "Jacob's ladder," and the fourth (and final) mission is called "Harbouring a Grudge." This mission introduces an Irish character called Patrick McReary, who is related to Francis.
  • Heavy fire will scar - and permanently destroy - parts of the environment.
  • The mobile phone can be used to call the police, the paramedics, and the fire department.
  • There are 18 radio stations in GTA IV - one of which is Russian. All of these stations can be accessed via the mobile phone.
  • You can take photos with the mobile phone and upload them to the police computer.
  • Health is represented by a green semi-circle on the left side of the radar, and a right semi-circle represents armour. You can restore health by resting, by using medical kits, and by eating.
  • In taxis, you can ask the driver to change the radio station by pressing D-pad left or right.
  • The GTA 4 equivalent of the Lincoln Tunnel is known as the Booth Tunnel.
There are also four new screenshots featuring Little Jacob and Vlad. If you wanna check 'em out, just click on our source link for the PSM3 scans. We'll be right on this tail of this baby, so you can bet we'll be back with more information for you guys!

I can't wait until this game comes out just so people will stop talking about it. The older GTA games seemed better than this but I just don't care about this game or GTA games anymore for that matter. I'm just going to pass on this game. R* makes horrible games anyways and I would rather play Saints Row 2 than this crap.

For once it looks like they're adding some good stuff to GTA. Cover system and permanent environment damage? :D

@ DNAgent: ok, that's your opinion. But I'm pretty sure GTA is much more popular than Saints Row, so people will buy GTA. You can't really say that the game will be bad, just because of some videos and photos. If you didn't like the last games of Rockstar, GTA IV is also not suited for you. But in the end you have to play every game before you can really say if you like it or not. For me, I never played Saints Row so I can't really if GTA is superior to SR or not.
Who knows? Maybe sometime in the future I try SR out and maybe I even like it more than GTA?

combat system aside, saints row was awful.
It lacked the humour of GTA... it tried but was painfully un-funny.
Story wise it was pretty poor and from a music perspective it sucked balls.
Now, I know whether or not you want to play GTA is up to you and is solely your opinion, but what doesn't make sense to me is why you'd choose an inferior genre clone like saints row over the higher budget, higher production, more experienced, genre defining Grand Theft Auto.
Thats like saying "I don't like Nike clothing, so I'm going to buy a knock off Nike hoodie from the market"

but yeah... your opinion.

There's a pretty good picture of Liberty City on the site, but that seems like all there is. I'm sure that's why you replied to yourself.
Hows that research coming?
