Kojima Productions - Image 1We have more news coming in from the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots launch party. This time, we've got the game's assistant producer Ryan Payton and he just finished talking about all things related to the game and what the future may hold for the franchise.

Among the most interesting things he spoke of was how Metal Gear Online was going to progress from its Starter Pack stage. Payton likened the game to a "free taste" of the actual thing and said new content would flow in steadily.

"The idea is to call them expansion packs. We have different themes for each expansion pack," he says. "Later on we’re going to introduce some pretty exciting environments and characters that are going to be pretty hard to resist in terms of how cool they are."

Aside from expansion packs for MGO, a new digital novel is said to be in the works. According to Payton, Konami will release one based on MGS2: Sons of Liberty via DVD in Japan and if the demand is there, it just might land in North America and Europe.

Lastly, Siliconera inquired if there was any truth behind rumors that MGS might get a remake for the Xbox Live Arcade. In response, Payton said:

Yeah, I saw that on the internet along with Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Ocelot or something. Both of those rumors are just rumors. They didn’t originate from us, that’s for sure.

» im just glad the ps3

finely has a game that justifies it, finely we have our messiah game. our gears of war, our bioshock.

To be honest. the 360 has a lot of great games. so it pisses me off when they want mgs4 as well. screw em!
us ps3 people deserve something exclusive.

besides. after about ten minuets of msg4, I came to the conclusion the 360 couldnt do mgs4 anyway. So dream on 360 fan boys, dream on.

I don't know about alot. There is a few exclusives, but most are multi platform. MGS4 is way better than gears of war. Gears of war looks pretty and is a good shooter but with MGS4 you get both that and a top quality story too.

a mgs1 twin snake for ps2/ps3

   by YAMI ANUBIS X - 2008-06-16
» Twin Snakes was exclusive to Gamecube and Kojima kept his word

That it would stay Nintendo exclusive, he promised Miyomoto, so no MGS Twin Snakes for any consoles except Nintendos.

Oh yeah it was pretty good but overall, the boss music was not as great as original MGS boss music.

But still great music.

They changed from one tune to another for every boss instead of keeping the same one.

Oh the bad part is, it didnt have the original MGS death song, when you die.

You know what I am talking about, its the main theme song for Snake.

But remake of first game would probably be better with MGS4 engine and such, it was a great remake but it wasnt like Resident Evil remake, where as in MGS4, when you go to Shadow Moses, its different.

It was the same layout and everything, which made it too easy.

I did like it. But stick to the original. Twin Snakes has great graphics and such but the music from MGS1, alot of it is missing, I mean boss fights.

» I recently played MGS1 for the first time

and I thought it would be great. In fact, it WAS my second favorite game of all time (after MGS3), until I played MGS4. Now my list goes a little more like this: MGS4, MGS3, MGS1, Shadow of the Colossus... (I haven't finished MGS2 yet - I was still playing it when I bought MGS4)

A remake using the MGS4 engine would be amazing, and I think I would definitely buy it, along with all those people who haven't played it yet and won't because its a PS1 game.

I think MGS2 is fine in terms of visuals, and MGS3 still looks amazing, so I don't think those need remakes just yet.

 » speaking of twin snakes.

no other metal gear game ive played has all the reading meterial in it that twin snakes had. you have this like log file that pretty much fills you in on the entire metal gear series in detale. it would have been nice of there would have been like an updated version of those reads as an option in mgs4 but then if yoy pay careful attention mgs4 does a pretty good job of filling one in on the back story, even if you never played them.

of course, I can imagine someone calling theirself a gamer not having played the original metal gear solid.
but thats just my opinion..

» with all this rumor going around bout MSG remake

to me it just sounds like xbot fanboys are getting jealous or is getting desperate at getting their fingers wrap around MGS knowing it is only on PS3 and that they will never get it or the online features.....

it makes me sad the only thing they can do is dream about how cool it will be on the xbot....and slaming their head with a hammer to get over the guilt of owning a xbot..
