I miss it already... =(
I was miffed about the rumble until I asked myself the following question:
What games do I own that currently utilize the rumble, and when do they actually rumble?
When I couldn't answer that question, I gave up caring.
who cares about rumble, it never helped anything, it was just annoying
plus i seemed to move the crontroler around like it did have sixaxis more than i ever cared about it rumbling, plus a lighter weight means its harder to break
How much time has passed since we've been discussing the SAME OLD topic about rumble? -_- It is getting really old and annoying. Let it go and MOVE ON whiners.
because GT:HD supports rumble via the Wheels, so it really is possible that 1st party add-on device or 3rd party built in rumble controller could be released.
but yeh, I don't care.
Logitech
thats all i need to say. they will make a controller for the ps3 with rumble since they use their own rumble technology.
but either way, doesn't matter to me :) .
well said...rumble will be on the ps3...just not on the actual SIXAXIS....3rd party all the way!!!
the Wii dosen't have rumble, think of things that way.
the Wii does have rumble.
I was just thinking about the remote and numchuck, not the controller.
well i don't really miss it that much. coz i have been playing sports and rpg all that time and those games doesn't need much rumbling effect. like madden vibrate when u get hit. nba live vibrate only during free throw lines.
when you are in a fierce battle online you don't want distraction...so either you turn off the rumble or get a controller that the rumble doesn't work...hahaha...thats what i do when i play my PS2.
still you have that alternative option...buy a third party controller. now everybody is happy :)
the only reason sony isnt putting rumble in their controllers is because they are stubbon and do not want to support a company that sued the hell out of them. they can make the excuse about how expensive it is for you.. but the only expense is their dignity. Sony has always been a stubbon selfish child company. it all started with nintendo dissing them over their CD Add on. when nintendo chose phillips over sony at the last moment.
I thought they didn't put in rumble because imerson sued them and sony lost the lawsuit.
mess up that a 3rd party can put both rumble and tilt on a controller but sony can't do it with there controller and I bet the 3rd party controller will cause less or the same amount as the ps3 controller($50)
Topic? Old as of 2005. Care meter on rumble = 0% Care meter on Games and Fun = 100%
I'll miss the rumble, but I will admit its not essential to my gaming experience... was a nice gimmick though...
It's too bad Sony and Immersion couldn't work things out, but if I were Sony I wouldn't want to pay somebody who just sued me for 90 million dollars either. I'd come up with something better... perhaps the sixaxis is a legitiimate successor, but I have my doubts...
Oh well, we'll see... people don't buy consoles or games based on rumble.
Even kaz hirai ended his TGS speech with a joking “Riiidge Racer”, humbly coming to terms with his internet image of late (regarding his keynote speech at E3). Phil Harrison trudges on, however, and tries to push the Playstation3 off the table and into our bags by pretending that the Playstation3 is everything you want, bells and whistles, and has next to no flaws whatsoever. And we all know that’s a load of bull, since as with anything, there is ALWAYS room for improvement.
My biggest complaint thus far is that Harrison seems as if, ONCE AGAIN, he is attempting to subvert all the talk of negativity surrounding Sony and turn it around into talk of “the greatness of Sony”, if you will.
Talk of greatness does not actually make something great, Phil Harrison, and while the Playstation3 is indeed a powerful machine, it is not without its faults, as with anything else. Pretending such is fooling nobody but yourself.
i love rumble and miss rumble very much , if ps3 without rumble there is no point playing great games in ps3. What i expect is to have rumble and the montion sensing together. This is what we call next gen console. i don think that adding rumble in the controller will cause a fortune or maybe sony is hiding something on the back of the story. Finally it is essentail to have rumble. I am no 1 supporter for sony product but it will make my mind change to xbox 360 if the controller is without rumble , playing ps2 controller with rumble is excellent.
it sure would be different without rumble, but ican get deal with it, but if they put rumble back on it would kick ass
The controller looks like an after thought when compared to the system itself. The system is translucent smoke black with a high gloss finish. The buttons are chrome and the PS logo is chrome. The only standout feature on the controller is the PS button. WTF? I do understand that you wouldn't want a high gloss on the body of the controller, but what about having the rest of the buttons and the d-pad see through like the PSP button. Or what about having the buttons and D-pad smoke black translucent and the analogue sticks gummy see through black. Both of those schemes would compliment both skus.
Anyway I still feel that rumble will be missed and it is sad that we have to give up something in order to experience something new, and pay more for it. At $600 dollars with no hdmi cable, no ps/ps2 card reader, and no rumble support; yes I do feel a little cheated.
The system is sexy but the controller is plain.
Rumble has been one of those things that evolved. First it was a nice little add-on to the N64. Then it was integrated into the PS controllers and from there it was a standard in controllers.
But what was rumble anyway? Was goldeneye64 really that much better with the rumble pack?
Is a racing game with rumble that much better?
I say no. Some people may think that rumble can make or break the gameplay but it hardly affects gameplay at all. 7 months ago my PS2 rumble fuse blew. Meaning I was without rumble for the duration of my PS2 until I decide to open it up and replace the fuse. Every game I played is still the same as it was. I didn't notice any decline in my enjoyment without the rumble.
Some of you may express that taking away rumble is killing the PS3. Well what you need to do is turn off rumble, play for a month or 2 and then come back and say your gaming experience was never the same.
Let me tell you of true story. My friends who come over to play never even realized the rumble feature on my PS2 was broken until I told them. 5 months and they didn't mention one word of it. All of our GT4 drift madness wasn't less enjoyable.
It was until I told them that my rumble was broken that they finally started to get depressed about the missing rumble feature that was never there for the past 5 months.
Knowledge is everything. People get depressed when something they have, regardless of it being used or not, gets taken away. But if it gets taken away and they don't know, life goes on the same.
... if you didn't care about the rumble why did you replace the fuse?
I remember when Metal Gear Solid first came out. And reading preview after preview of the game prior to release, I remember how hyped about the game I was.
One of the things that the previews mentioned at that time was how well the rumble feature worked with the game. And when I finally got my hands on the game, I agreed, the rumble did add to the experience.
And now there are games that have come out that use the rumble feature as part of gameplay. Look at Zelda, I think one (or more) of their games used the rumble feature to indicate hidden treasure (so there would be no indication on the screen). Or in a Mario Party game, where you would be fishing, and it would rumble to let you know that you caught a fish (if you didn't have rumble, it would have shown an "!" above your head, which doesn't feel the same).
All in all, I think rumble, if used correctly, can add to the gameplay experience. It's a shame they took it out, but like I said in the beginning, it's not essential.
Hey, Look what Sony did before with PS1, Added analogs, im sure some 3rd party will make a rumble controller, and the devs of the games probably will add rumbling features to their games after this(heck, some games that are on other systems might already have them in).
If this happens, Sony may find a new rumble technology, they already have a partnership with Logitech, why not extend it, and use their rumble technology in SIXAXIS v2.
Lets not forget that multiple controllers have happened before, the Xbox had a huge controller first, then got another version which was smaller, the PS1 had 2 controllers, the dualshock and the normal one, so why not the PS3.
Come on Sony, Get on with it!

i need rumble i think its a mistake from sony not include the rumble in ps3 in that case ill prefer buy xbox
