PlayStation Network - Image 1Sony has lofty goals for this fiscal year. Banking on the recent success of the PS3 Slim and the round of PS3 price cuts, Sony executive vice president Kaz Hirai has revealed that they plan to hit 13 million PS3s sold worldwide in FY09. They also expect the PlayStation Network to pull in revenues roughly thrice the profits they made last year. More after the jump.

Whew! - Image 1A lot of eyes were on Sony at the Media Investor Conference quite recently, where the company revealed their plans of world domination increasing profit in 2010. The interwebs got an unpleasant jolt of "WTF?!" yesterday when they spotted a line that read "new revenue stream from subscription" under PSN in the Sony presentation. SCE head Kaz Hirai quickly moves to soothe the angry mob, saying that the current PlayStation Network services will remain free.

Heads up, Sony has now confirmed that FW 3.10 will be going live today, after being announced only two days ago. Now that's fast. PS3 keyboard controller attachment - Image 1We've seen a lot of "confirmations" for the much-rumored and believed-to-be-impending arrival of cross-game chat to the Sony PS3. Here's another, this time from someone pretty high up the PSN chain of command. The comment's sudden disappearance has also added another tantalizing layer to the whole thing. Ooh, tantalizing!

PS3 Weekend Warrior - Image 1 Modern Warfare 2 came out this week. You know what that means. Lots of news about what is being claimed as the biggest entertainment launch of all time. From the good to the bad, the funny to the infuriating, it's in the PS3 Weekend Warrior. But that's not the only big news this week.
