Good news and bad news for PlayStation 3 gamers. At least, PlayStation 3 gamers who frequent the PlayStation Store. Bad news first: the PS Store will not be posting any new updates from now till mid-April. Why? Well, that's the good news.

The good news is, if you haven't already heard, the PlayStation Store is getting a whole new look this April! Above are the first batch of screenshots that Sony has released for the new design. Check them out and see if you like 'em.

One major change you may have noticed is that instead of having four major categories in the PS Store, the new design will have have eight. Once the PS Store is ready to launch its makeover, users will have to download a new firmware update.

In case you were wondering, the revamp will not affect PSN accounts or the virtual wallet system. Sony also promised to release more info and a video walkthrough in the next few days. We'll be sure to keep you posted, so check back for updates.

Thanks to Darkshneider for the tip!

no april fools buddy, but theres a good and a bad news.

The good news it will not be web based finally, thats why you will need a firmware update by mid april.

The bad news is that the PS Store will not be updated by two weeks and that's an ouch.

 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

Hopefully the "LATEST" section will be a CORRECT or exact listing of everything that's available in date order.

Every since they removed the new releases section that used to be in the top right corner the store kinda sucked and was more annoying to go around and find everything that's new. Not everything was posted on first three pages of the site.

But they made damn sure the rockband/guitar hero crap was always on the front page, even though some add on content couldn't be found except under the "all titles" list. Yay for new layout.

 » xbox marketplace

Looks like the xbox marketplace with different graphics. Would be better if they used a more original interface.
