german ps3 posterWith some buzz that PS3 games reportedly cost around $60 each, this German retailer's promo sounds really sweet. If you can read German (we can't), the poster is supposed to say, Pre-order a 60GB PS3 €599 (about $750) and get the following games for free:

Let's see, at the rumored projected price of $60 each, that's a bundle worth a whopping $420! Talk about generosity! Anybody here knows how to pre-order in German?

Sorry boys, but the little text in the right corner says
"If you preorder a PS3 at your local SATURN-shop and pay for it right away you get ONE of these seven games for free"

Could have been a sweet deal...

You shouldn't let people write such posts about foreign stuff, when they're not capable of the language :/

» Almost same deal with MM

It's one of the seven games. If you pre-order the PS3 in a MediaMarkt you only have to pay 50€ in advance and can also choose one of the seven games...

I smell another PS2 launch were people bought one without knowing why they want one. Sony is one of a few companys who can do this.

In my area, people were behaving like ANIMALS... running up the stairs from the shopping centre into the store...it was crazy.

 » Preordering...

Here (sweden) preordering usually means that you are guaranteed to get one, on the day of release, but they only give out preorders to match how many systems they get. Is it safe to say this doesn´t apply in other countries?

This way, there is no need to get trampled in the rush...
Got both my Ps2 and X360 without any hassles

It was only a matter of time, when Saturn and MediaMarkt would come up with a pre-order and an one game for free extra... And I guess, they do this to get more consoles on first day than any other store in germany... *sigh*

But, this ad has one good thing about it: Are those seven titles the official start-lineup for Germany? Or are there more?

And I'm still worried about 2007... with a 3% higher value-added tax starting from January, the PS3 could go from 599€ up to 614,99€ ... hopefully, it won't

to be german, and then have all the game names be in english and not be able to understand them. Because at first I though that they translated and made the titles in german in germany, but even in the ad, the names are in english.

Learn to *****ing read qj.net staff! First of all it clearly says 1 of the 7 games. And what do I find below this post? "The PS3 controller has been given the name 'P oo S' " Maybe if you guys actually read the article and maybe if you actually looked at the picture they provided you would see that the logo was "P infinity S" Quit being stupid 360 fanboys and learn how to read...

» reason why sony is calling ps3 a computer

"And I'm still worried about 2007... with a 3% higher value-added tax starting from January, the PS3 could go from 599€ up to 614,99€ ... hopefully, it won't"

if you search the web you will see that sony has been touting the ps2 as a computer since its release, the reason why is that computers being imported to europe, the companies importing wont be taxed unlike video game hardware. sony went to court on this issue in uk because fees they had to pay on every ps2 that was shipped to europe came to about 50 million or something like that, so sony went to court to plead there case that they should get there money back and stop paying those fees but there case was dismissed by the judge.

now to the ps3, this is why i think they changed their marketing strategy to market the ps3 as a computer so they wouldnt have to pay those fees. and this also means that price drops for the ps3 wouldnt be coming any time soon, even if it those it wont be that much.

(the article on the court case should be found on ign or gamespot)

Well I know they said Fatal Inertia would be a sure release title in all regions, so I'm pretty sure this is a partial list. What surprises me is Lair is listed, so it's a release title for sure then apparently.

While yes I think it is part of the attempt at convincing trade commisioners that the ps3 should be exempt from the fees associated with game console trade in Europe. I think it's also part of the sales strategy in general. To push away from the 360, in defining the ps3 as something capable of so much more than a gaming machine. It makes it more of a deal to buy a computer with a cell and blue ray and the lastest Nvidia card for $700. As opposed to sticking in the price ranges that the average console buyer sees as a deal. Basically I'm saying that there's more to the deal in calling it a PC than just getting out of some fees.

Also I hardly think getting out of those fees would really help in dropping prices, as much as alleviating Sony of some of the early debt they'll be taking with all the other dev costs. Price drops are much more likely to happen as they convert over to the 60mm processor from the 90mm processor and blue ray production gets cheaper and Nvidia's cards get cheaper to produce and sell and the eventual replacement of the ps2 chipset with pure software emulation of the ps2. Basically the high costs are associated with the large amount of new technology that needs to be in production for a while to get costs down.

nearly everyone here in germany at the age of 30 and younger understands (and speaks) english.
Besides that, most gamers in germany hate those crappy translations made by non-german developers.
There are some pretty good translations, too, but that's a minority.

» why not in Canada :'(

why I do not see any offers like that in Canada? :'(
Man with a free game I suppose I'd pre-order, with the 60$US games it conpensate for the high priced premium bundle, because I'll buy the core bundle myself BUT if they give me a free game worth 60$US with the premium... ps: premium is 100$ more, with a free game it's only 40$ more for a 60g HD instead of 20g, a media card reader, wireless network, and HDMI 1.3!! for 40 bucks I'm a buyer lol! I'd take resistance - fall of man!
