For those who've been curious as to the progress of the Prince of Persia movie expecting it to fail big time, here's the trailer for you to critique. Keep those comments coming!

The Prince of Persia movie does seem to have more special effects and CGI than the average video game movie. Looks promising, but it's just too early to tell if the movie will be good. The film won't be sticking to the story 100% just like everything else, so don't expect it to. The trailer does show some wall-climbing and a few good stunts, so maybe it'll turn out better than some of the video game movies out there.

We'll know once the movie comes out - it'll be in cinemas May 27, 2010.

if that's not the most epic video game movie trailer ever I don't know what is..I'm actually wanting to see it now cause it looks like it MIGHT break the video game to movie curse started by Super Mario Bros LOL. No video game movie has ever been 100% accurate or GOOD for that matter, the closest was probably Silent Hill and they messed up the story anyway. Hope to see this!

Majority of Jerry Bruckheimer's productions movie are pretty good. Take Pirates of the Caribbean. Hell, even that movie Confessions of a Shopaholic was actually a good movie. (I dig chick flicks)

I had no idea that Persia was in England.

The Special effects are great in this movie and it looks to be loosely following the story which is fine. It's gonna look nice but the story seems like it's going to be a bit cliche.

And @symbyosis..Resident Evil wasn't terrible...I think that broke the trend of vg movies being complete trash to people in hollywood noticing that video games have the potential to have some indepth stories and experiences...and cash cows :P

You must take the dagger there! You must take it there and throw it in the volcano!!!

This movie is going to ROCK!!!! There is no video game to movie curse. There are PLENTY of good video game movies.

» But There are plenty Of bad video game movies

Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, BloodRayne, Silent Hill, Max Payne, Tomb Raider, Doom

These are all movies based on video games that turned out sub par, or horrible.

 » I beg to differ

I thought the first Mortal Kombat was good.. really cheesy effects but it was good imo! The second one.. well, the beginning was epic. Right away, MORTAL KOMBAT and then BAM the music comes up.

Lots of people liked the Silent Hill movie, I've never seen it

I like the Resident Evil series

 » Mortal Kombat 1

picked the worst character in the game to be champion of Earth Realm, Johnny Cage had everything from wisdom, to the best moves in MK1 to be the wise choice, I also didn't like how easily Sub-Zero and Scorpion died, the only thing that was awesome was the clip of Fear Factory playing while Scorpion was on screen.

Resident Evil's story had little to nothing to do with what is known as the game's story, that Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine stumbled on some massive conspiracy to genetically alter humans.

I have yet to see a GOOD video game movie, I still stand by Silent Hill (though it had lots of changes from the game) was the better video game movie, and even then it's not by any means "good".

Its all opinion...though, and Street Fighter's only good acting was done by the late Raul Julia. How the hell can Guile talk with a french accent and be from the "oo-ess-ay" like Van Damme said. LOL.

but johnny cage didn't win in the game... also i never saw him as wise, more arrogant. it would have been lame to have a movie star win a martial arts tournament.

to do it all justice they would have needed more time than is really justifiable for a movie. sub-zero's demise seemed reasonable to me, however i wish both the ninjas had more screen time. they were always my favorite characters...

but like you said, all opinion.

@ lolwut - What excactly is your point? There have also been COUNTLESS bad movies in general!!! So does that mean there's a movie curse in general?

NO.

I also disagree. I thought some of the movies you listed were good.

This is all preference. I can't believe you mentioned the Tomb Raider series. Those movies did VERY WELL in the box office.

   Re: lolwut? - 2009-11-05
 » TR

Even though Tomb raider did decent in the box office, The critics gave it horrible ratings. 19% of critics liked the first one, and 23% liked the second one.

Mortal Kombat, I liked those movies, at least when i was younger, but now its easy to see many of the stunts and fake cgi, and the story is paper thin, and theres a reason why the actors in that movie aren't seen around lately.

Are you serious?

Critics? That's a joke right? The only real critic is the general population.

That Disney is going to have a *****ty Prince Of Persia game thats based off of their remake of The Sands Of Time. Ubisoft will be the publisher...not the developer.
