Don't worry, Trophy fanatics, Heavy Rain will indeed have support for that feature. Quantic Dream just hasn't gotten around to deciding how exactly they're going to integrate it into the game. "We haven’t figured out, as of yet, how the trophy system is going to work. It’s not necessarily a game that is conceptually in line with what trophies should do", Quantic Dream co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere told SPOnG at the GameHorizon conference. "Again, it’s not about succeeding or failing. It’s not about doing the right thing or doing the wrong thing. It’s about the journey. The journey is the most important thing. So, to a certain degree, I would say we’re not rewarding the players in a conventional way. The reward is the emotional experience, is how good the story is from the player’s perspective." Quantic Dream hasn't set a release date yet for Heavy Rain, and it looks like we may have to wait a while based on the developers' earlier statements that there's still a lot of work to be done on it. In the meantime, got any ideas on how to integrate Trophies into the game? Sound of in the comments section. Related articles:

Easy as pie.
Flower is an "emotional game", simple hand out trophies for certain points in the game's flow.
Heck I think in Flower you got one trophy if you just walked away from the game & let it run for 10 mins not playing...LOL

Like you said, just give out trophies for finishing "chapters" or whatever the game has.
If you die with a character and cannot complete his part of the story, you miss out on those trophies and would have to play again (or load last save point :P ).....

on a side note, did qj bring back unregistered comments? i saw a lot of (unregistered)s by peoples names in other articles and wondered if qj brought it back.

Long live Shenmue. This game is kinda similar, just not as open-ended.
As for trophies... They can't just put in conventional trophies. If they did, you'd get them through normal gameplay, by just beating the game.
