Le gasp! QuickJump QuickPeek is back? Huzzah! After a short hiatus, QuickPeek is back in action, giving a recap of the biggest video game and homebrew news every week.

And since we love you guys so much, we started the first of our series of guides for the PSP, complete with our tagline "because even the greatest devs started out as noobs."

First up is the PSP Homebrew Dictionary. We'll be chucking out new versions of this as time goes on, so keep on giving us feedback on how to improve it. We also released our first How-To guide, starting off with the most basic of PSP questions "what are the different kinds of PSPs"?

PSP Updates: It's aliiiiiive!

In the PSP scene this week, Sony seems to be busy laying the groundwork for future improvements to the handheld's functionality.

The Ad-hoc Party beta feature (still only in Japanese) was given a new search function to make life easier when you want to find other people playing the same game. Japan is also getting PlayStation Home support for the PSP, starting out with the Japan-only game, Idol Master SP. Hopefully this means more PSP games will get Home support as well. Now if only they'll let other regions join the party.

For those who've been worried about the PSP's future, go chillax. Sony promises that we'll see a lot more games for the PSP this year. (Bout frakkin time.) But for those who like the good ol' fashioned classics, the GTA games Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories are now available on PSN.

While we're on the subject of future games, we also found out this week that the announced release date for Dissidia: Final Fantasy was fake. I share your pain. There's no official release date for the game yet (booooo). On the other hand, them cute, one-eyed Patapon warriors are marching towards a May release date.

Aaaaand it's homebrew time! There were seriously too many to put in here, so I could only put in the cream of the crop, based on your comments and your jumps. The lesson here is that you should comment and jump the article if you like the homebrew ;)

First is a new version of the GameBoy Advance Emulator from the anonymous Japanese dev, who henceforth shall be named Anonymous Japanese Dev. Unfortunately, we don't know what's new with the emu except that it now has something to do with iR Shell.

A new plugin is also out that works with Dark AleX's Time Machine. SEPlugins Time Machine from Spiros is designed to make plugins work when you're time traveling to pre-5.00 M33 CFW.

This week, we also have some new releases of some classic media homebrew. Cooleyes released a new version of PMPlayer Advance, which now supports the MP4-AVC format. JK108 also released the latest version of Ultimate PSPTube, which adds two more video streaming websites to its list.

PlayStation 3: Kratos is coming

He a lean, mean, god-killing machine. Kratos smiled and posed for the camera this week as Sony released new screens and an awesome new video of God of War III. 1UP took the cue and made an analysis/commentary vid of the trailer.

God of War III also got a whopping 10-page feature on Game-Informer, providing all new info - and some not so surprising ones. No, the game won't have multiplayer. No duh. It would have been sweet though. Finally, the game's official website is now also up for those who want to join the Kratos fan club.

Flower made its debut on the PlayStation Store this week. You should give it a whirl, it's heart pounding... in a relaxing kinda way. Also new is Qore Episode 9, which features a semi-interactive walkthrough video of Resident Evil 5. Don't expect the demo of H.A.W.X. to be available anytime soon though - Ubisoft announced that it was delayed.

Sony's starting to really getting aggressive in their PlayStation 3 campaign. A few weeks back they called Microsoft an "add-on peddler." This time they're aiming at Xbox Live, saying that the 50 bucks you spend to subscribe to the service is better off spent buying actual games on PSN. Then they threw rotten eggs at Bill Gates' house, then giggled like little school girls.

Besides making gamers pay attention to their free online service, Sony also let on that they're planning to release hybrid Blu-ray discs this year, which will contain both movie and game data.

We also found out that a lot of developers have signed up to support Home, so we'll be having a lot more to look forward to in the near future. Unfortunately, Square Enix isn't on the list., so no Final Fantasy XIII stuff will be popping up at Home anytime soon :(.

Xbox 360: Niko Bellic? Who's that?

The upcoming DLC pack for Grand Theft Auto IV is looking, well, grand. Rockstar has released a new video trailer for The Lost and Damned. It's awesome enough that I almost forgot it's just a DLC expansion. Rockstar also announced that during the game's first week of release, Xbox Live Gold will be free for everyone.

The best things in life are free. Except when it's gotten illegally. Hey that rhymes!

Good news from Valve! Looks like Microsoft is being uncharacteristically generous with the Left 4 Dead Survival Pack. The DLC will be free of charge when it's released this Spring. Capcom's having a rough time on its side though; Street Fighter IV was leaked just days before its release in the US, and is already being downloaded on torrents.

Wii: It's a MadWorld

Let's not kid ourselves. There's a lot of crap on the Wii. But you can't deny that there are gems there for the hardcore. There are two games I'm really looking forward to for the Wii. First is Overlord: Dark Legend, which is bound to be a riot, and promises to deliver for both the hardcore and casual crowd. The second is MadWorld. I won't deny why. Blood. Chainsaws. Ninja barbecue. Man darts. That warm fuzzy feeling.

Not a lot of Wii news this week, but what's lacking in video game news we get in Wiibrew news.

There's been some mighty fine releases, but let's start with waninkoko's Custom MIOS. If you remember, wanin caused quite a stir when he released his Custom IOS installer, but it looks like he has no intention of stopping taking Wiibrew to the next level. Wanin also released MenuPatcher, which allows backup loading through the disc channel.

CrazyIntro from developer WiiCrazy allows you to customize your Wii's startup intro. It's far from perfect, but it's still a pretty neat trick. Better than your regular start-up, definitely.

Finally, we have the latest version of AnyTitle Deleter MOD from Red Squirrel, who seems to be doing mighty fine on the Wiibrew scene after officially saying goodbye to the PSP community. I can only see good things for Wiibrew with him around.

General Gaming: Ohayo, Lara-chan!

Looks like Lara Croft finally got herself a decent suitor. Final Fantasy studio has officially proposed to acquire Eidos Interactive, the company with the rights to the Tomb Raider franchise. The price? US$ 180 million. Lara's not a cheap date.

While we're on the subject of Square Enix, president Yoichi Wada announced that due to the delay of Dragon Quest IX, there might be a chance that Final Fantasy XIII will be delayed. I can't tell you how bummed out I am that a game of FFXIII's caliber will get delayed because of a DS game. Fine, it's DQ. But come on.

Final Fantasy XIII might be delayed, fine, but Street Fighter IV is nearly here! Japan's had it for a few days now - in fact, it sold out on its first day there. As Mabie said, it's no wonder people turned to torrents to get their copies. I swear by Chun-Li's pantyhose that I will get myself a copy on day one.

And we end this week's video game wrap up with a few things to look forward to. The Ghostbusters demo will be going live on PSN and XBL this June, while Capcom has hinted that the DLC for Resident Evil 5 will have an unlockable mode. What will it unlock? Hopefully a better control scheme.

Odds and Ends: Dragonball never looked this [insert adjective here]

There's a lot of different opinions on the upcoming Dragonball movie. And there's even more opinions on the Dragonball game here at QJ.
