PlayStation logo - Image 1The PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable are going to see more non-game software from third-party developers in the coming years. That was the message relayed by SCEE president David Reeves during his speech over at the DevStation event in London.

"You’re going to see more of those partnerships,” he said while speaking in front of media and software developers for Sony platforms. “And those partnerships are an opportunity to the industry.”

Reeves, however, maintained that the primary focus of Sony is still to attract as many developers to their platforms as possible. he then reiterated how vital third-party titles are to every hardware manufacturer in the market.

Sounds like a nice plan. We'll see if Sony can deliver on these promises. More updates to come, so stick around.

i wish they had had all of these things planned out from the beginning. it seems like they are coming up with these ideas as they go along.

Um, if they had everything planned from the beginning then what would be looking forward to?? Making up ideas as they go along seems ok to me.

 » all it means is

sonys basically telling us.if you wanna develop homebrew,go ahead and do so,if you want to make custom firmware its ok.we will not hinder you for it and say its wrong.basically homebrewing was accepted when the psp 1st came out.then sony was shunning it,and now they are praising it again.all this means is less whining from sony and not so much bs reports they give that say nothing.does this also mean that the psps are gonna stay unlocked?haha we still have to unlock em ourselfs dur.but they should be throwing out the different methods to try to security block them.whitch always eventually failed anyways.

what their saying is if you wanna make an app for psp/ps3 you have to do it with thier permission (aka YOU can't) so companies like *insert generic brand here* can release the new word processor for ps3 or sumtin like that
