Some answers to some questions...

Why should I bother?
Terra Soft will launch YDL 5.0 with support for Sony's PS3.

When will the thing ship?
On Monday, November 26, you get to download Install and Source ISOs of the thing via YDL.net Enhanced. On December 11 you can purchase DVDs from the Terra Soft Store. On the week of Christmas you can download the Install and Source ISOs via public mirrors.

So will this come with instructions or something?
There are mailing lists here and there are HOWTOs here. There will also be a database driven help desk available for six months from the date of purchase for users who choose to purchase Installation Support and maintain a YDL.net Enhanced account. They've also got hourly technical support for folks who need assistance with device driver porting, application development, or cluster design and configuration.

Are we telling you guys to get this no matter what?
No we're not. We're just giving you guys a heads-up in case you're into this kind of thing.

So what, emulators run on Linux anyways?

Sony is trying to justify the price of the PS3 by selling it as an "open platform computer system", and as on all computers, you can install Linux on it. They also want to see the development of homebrew games on the ps3 so ,YDL the official ps3 linux ditro, will have the tools for homebrew.

Nix what I just said about homebrew tools, I just checked YDL website and they said no.

So we can have linux but we cant use the gpu properly? That kind of blows. Linux users want a full linux, not a crippled one. But at least they gave us linux, that was a ballsy move and I applaud them for doing it. Its a big step towards homebrew being embraced instead of shunned. Its too bad they had to limit it, because I think this might actually encourage people to hack the system instead of diverting them. I'm sure they've put one hell of a security system on it, but only time will tell...
