Now that the bedlam between Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and the Church of England appears to be boiling down (for now), we'll be getting back on track with some good news for Resistance: Fall of Man. Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) Line Producer Greg Philips, the man who initially told us of the delay, is back once again to let the RFoM community know that their much-awaited downloadable content will be available on PlayStation Store this coming Friday, June 29:

For those that have been following this saga since the beginning, this is not the first release date for the maps and content update. It is, however, the final one. We have completed testing on the global server and after many late nights, gallons of coffee and takeout dinners, we’re ready to go tomorrow. The team down at Insomniac, as well as us here in SCEA PD, are really excited about this launch, and can’t wait to get going with some of the best RFOM players on these new maps. Yes, these are global servers, so we’ll be competing with our friends on either side of both oceans as well.

The downloadable content is expected to hit PSN in the early afternoon, and will include free content updates for global play, and several game updates. Also to be available will be two new online maps, purchasable at US$ 7.99 each on the PlayStation Store. Set your calendars, watches, and PlayStation 3s, folks - your patience is about to be rewarded.

Kudos to Nano for the tip-off!

» when life is too expensive

This is great news, also I would like to comment on "Also to be available will be two new online maps, purchasable at US$ 7.99 each on the PlayStation Store." That's 16$ in total !!! That's a 1/4 of the price of the original game for only 2 additional maps !!! No chance I get them, this is just taking the pi$$ !!!

i think they made a mistake, i think they meant they are 8 dollars for the package. Ive been researching this a loooong time and everywhere else said its a map pack for $8.

 » buy maps?

what's next?

Buy updates that fix bugs ?

I love my PS3 and Sony did a good job... BUT buying game content and packs for enhancements? LMAO !!!

You buy a PC multiplayer game and USUALLY maps can be made by anyone..... but seeing how there is no way to get the maps onto the ps3 (as far as I know) they get to keep that control and then charge us for the maps? hahahah.... I bet ya that Somerset will still reign along with whatever popular map on either side of North America. And then to charge $8? Don't ya think that .50 or MAAAAAYYYYBBBBBEEEEEEE $1.00? So that if I put $15 on Playstation Store account then that could get me 30 or 50 maps. OOOOOORRRRRRR allow the maps to only be downloaded and used by the elite gamers by having to buy them with points? something to think about. But $8 ? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

 » BTW

BTW..... how much ya wanna bet that they are planning a similar strategy for RPG's eh? instead of Gold n silver etc... it'll be Gaming Currency that can be pulled straight from your bank accounts.... hhhmmm?

think about it....a Sword in Ninja Gaiden Sigma COULD cost you $50.... why not? you just bought a $700 gaming machine ...you or someone close to you has money and they want a part of it... but they can't bet on sure things UNLESS you can control on how you get it. and in this case it is your money.....hahahah

I will dump major bricks if society allows this to happen by becomming victims.... but I guess we shall see.

To anyone who didn't actually go to the read link, heres the highlights from the blog itself

And for those who are joining us late, all you need to remember is this:
• Downloadable content for Resistance: Fall of Man will be available this Friday, June 29th.
• There is a free content update which includes global play along with several other enhancements.
• There are two brand new, online maps that can be bought in a pack from the PlayStation Store for $7.99

BOTH maps are in ONE pack for $7.99. Don't buy the pack if you don't want it, you still get new content, global play, and other enhancements via a free update.
