Rock Band unboxed - Image 1You can't have a band without the instruments, so make sure you have a lot of space around your console when you buy Rock Band. Wired.com got their hands on an early Rock Band package and the box alone already looks humongous.

You're going to need space to play the drums and guitar, not to mention enough space for the vocals of your group to headbang. Don't worry about how they're all going to be plugged into your console; the package includes a USB dongle for the Xbox 360 and a hub for the PlayStation 3 and PS2.

Along with the drum kit, the guitar, and the microphone, you're also going to get two Headset units when you buy Rock Band. Of course, like most bulky electronics, you're going to have to deal with the usual adapters and wires.

Assembling the drum kit may be the most tiresome part of the game - and the game hasn't even started out yet. Well Rock Band is worth the trouble of assembling it. The drum kit only takes six steps to assemble and while the parts look intimidating when it's all scattered, it's actually pretty easy if you just follow the instructions.

 » not impressed

i would totally prefer the old drumania / percussion freak drum kit. what they created is stupid.

even though rock band is a great idea, the peripheral designs are not standard, meaning regular musicians will have difficulty using them. and gamers will not learn how to play the drum properly. whereas in percussion freaks, you will actually learn how to play properly.

.....awaiting the proper and improved rock band 2 game and peripherals.
