The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf - Image 1

Talk of cancellation has sprung up around CD Projekt's The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360). While there have been no definite announcements from the game's developers, Polish site Polygamia is reporting that sources indicate the game has quietly been shelved.

CD Projekt rep Tom Ohle was unable to confirm or deny the game's cancellation. Similarly, a spokesperson for Atari was also unable to give out anything concrete. Atari was supposed to be handling publishing duties for Rise of the White Wolf.

Rise of the White Wolf, which would have been the moniker carried by the home console versions of the PC-only RPG The Witcher, was announced late last year and was supposed to be scheduled for an autumn 2009 release. It was being built from the ground up with an all-new engine, new models, and more polygons compared to the original.

This looks like a must have game and is high on my list. I hope they don't cancel it. It looks very epic.

It was doubtful from the beginning. Buy the PC version. Once you finish it, take a glance at all the pretty mods that have been created for it and enjoy an expanded game. The console version would have been half assed anyway.
