Rumor: PlayStation Home beta open v1.0 hacked, found playable - Image 1

Contributor xtianoPL claims to have circumvented Sony's security shield and downloaded the open beta version of PlayStation Home by using the PS3 Proxy exploit. This new development from the PlayStation 3 underground gets topped off with an actual tutorial on how to secure your own copy of the recent version of PlayStation Home. The tutorial was submitted by PS3HaX Network member RDA990.

RDA990 has been able to enter PlayStation Home even without an official invite, though it seems that no one was active the moment they connected to the PS Home servers. Aside from recording an actual runtime video of PlayStation Home, RDA990 was quoted to have said:

I am the only one there. I can't see anyone there, it's like me being the last man on earth. I haven't seen anyone yet, so far I have been in the (I think its) something Squar- the theather (sic), and right now I'm in the bowling alley.

The folks at PS3HaX Network say that PlayStation Home requires new features added to the more secure PlayStation 3 firmware version 2.20. But while we wait for more confirmation, we'll keep this find filed under Rumors for now.

Thanks to Draken for the tip!

It's not online so it's a bit useless for the trouble. And anyway, you'll loose your "house" non-stop if you're not connected in your account, so it's not usefull at all. Still, it's better than nothing if you have a lot of spare time and really wanna see into the future, lol. But I'll wait a bit, anyway they said the closed beta is ending in less than a month, after this, they'll surely re-open the beta before making it final, so we should see Home open beta in less than an month, wich is great for me since I'll have finished my final exams! :D

I downloaded everything to set this up onto my computer and it's all just waiting for me to transfer it over to my PS3, but I think I'll wait about a week to see if anybody's getting banned or messing up their PS3s with this. I thought it was a good idea to download it all just in case Sony forces all the sites hosting the downloads to take it off. I'm betting another firmware update will block this. Maybe they'll add it in some security measures with the new firmware update they need for the new store. Hey I can see if the PS3s mess up when people who tried this update to a new firmware. I'm confused though. If we do all this, do we just get to see the little Home icon on the XMB and then click on it and get an error message? Because it's definitely not worth it if that's the case.

Thanks for RUINING THIS> They will DELAY IT FOR SURE NOW. This guy should get a swift kick you know where for releasing this. Bah!

   Re: SRLemmiwinks - 2008-04-07
 » I doubt that

They would only delay it if this guy proved that something in the game allowed him to access stuff he shouldnt, instead hes using an exploit in the Ps3 Firmware to get into something he shouldnt.

Yeah its weird cause the beta is version 0.8.6 right now, You actually have to launch it like a game, theres no icon specifically for it.

someone in the beta boards claims to have seen rda walking around.

 » It works... but ...

you can't walk arround or anything it says can't connect to server... after the blank policy page it geives me can't connect to servers...

   by girandhistacos - 2008-04-07
» This guy is a douche!

OF COURSE it works for him... watch the video carefully, he has the Home icon under his GAME section on the XMB.

This means that RDA, or whatever his name is, is actually an invited beta tester... the "hack" works because it recognizes his name as someone who is allowed in.

He's making people think that they can do something that is not possible.

I agree with you. Im not going to try it yet, im going to wait to see what happens, but i can bet that even if i do get the download it wont log in. Its virtually unplayable. and when he turned the camera, it was obviously doing something he didnt want people to see. So im saying that you can download it, but it pretty much wont do anything. Im just waiting for sony to go trigger happy and ban everyone.

» sony wont ban and neither will microsoft

i dont get how ppl think sony or microsoft wil ban u for getting into a beta. i have forced my way into ever beta that was possible. to list a few warhawk call of duty 4 battlefield bad company. for getting into the warhawk beta do u really think sony would ban me if they did i wouldnt be able to buy the game its just not economic same as the way microsoft wouldent ban me from going on the bad company beta i wouldent give them their £40 a year for live. if microsoft banned the ppl who went on the bad company beta on one torrent site it was downloaded over 2000 times 2000*£40=£80,000 they wouldent ban people. now piracy is a different matter thats worthey of a ban because your not spending money then. the worst that can happen is sony or microsoft will kick you off the beta server but you will still be able to get the full game dont worry about it

   Re: mreverdred01 - 2008-04-08
 » eh.. idk

The difference between all of those you listed and this is that Home is made directly under Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, while all of the games you listed are made by companies independent of Sony or Microsoft.

Huh? A Wii Rom loader? what the heck are you talking about Barakku? If that's true then give us a link to it and prove it.

 » lol @ girandhistacos

girandhistacos dont come here with that BS allright? If you knew anything about getting into HOME you would know that there is another way witch you get it trought the Folding@HOME way,and that way puts it under GAME,and everyone knows that one doesent work beacuase it gives you a copyright error. So if you dont know anything dont say S*** allright? and im no BETA TESTER i dint have a PS3 when they had the Closed beta and were picking people, also if you go to the PSU site go search my name rda990 and my rank doesent say HOME BETA TESTER allright? so just STFU

» i would make anybody a bet that nobody will get banned for doing this

it wont happen. as i explained before it will make sony loose money well not loose money but if i was banned off the playstation network id buy all my games for my xbox 360 they wouldent dare ban people for this possibly at most patch it so you cannot get into it untill release banning is a bit extreme dont you think. and u might find warhawk is a first party game devloped by both incogneto and sony computer entertainment santa monica which you might also find is a division of sony computer entertainment google it. they will not bann u for trying to get a free release beta game they want you to pass on good words about them not say wel im never buying a sony console they banned me. as i have allways said piracy is a different matter people should be banned for it but getting into betas that should have been open in the first place sony would not dream of banning playing customers

 » Fixed It

you where right robbo16 i did it and then later today when i ran it it said update availible so i dl it and when i restarted it it deleted my home icon in the game tab and when i click on home in the PSN tab it says i dont have proper privilages. but im not banned from PSN just cant run home.

   by robbo16 - 2008-04-09
» yes they just patch em up theres no point in banning people from a service because of an issue overlooked by the company

they wont ban u for this now microsoft may lol no i doubt thet would. i believe the people on the halo 3 beta through crackdown was because people were backing up crackdown and getting into the beta they got banned piracy (i read that here http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=61890)

   by wolf3ax - 2008-04-09
 » banned to an extent

i recommend to not do this, even if u do it wont matter as sony has jumped on it already. I was running home last night wishing i could get into the world and finnaly quit it. I realized i had no internet connection with my ps3, yet it was fine everywhere else in my house. I speculated the probelm might be home. I delted it and re configured my internet and was all good. The install home icon remained though after deletion. When i clicked on it it said u cannot acces this content on your/this acount. No point in doing this anymore
