Ever deleted movies you bought from the PS Store to free up space on your hard drive before realizing too late that "D'oh! Movies can't be redownloaded! Why, Sony? Why?" Well, don't fret about it too much. Apparently, all you have to do is contact SCEA and they'll let you download it again. Only once though. If you decide to delete it again, well, tough cookies. The redownload is considered as a "one-time courtesy," so don't push your luck. The download restriction, although necessary, makes you wonder if it's worth it to actually purchase movies from the PS Store. If you keep purchasing movies, you'll eventually have to delete some when you need some extra space, making your previous purchases worthless. And then what happens if the system becomes obsolete? Do your purchased movies die with the console? Lesson for the day, folks: sometimes it's better to just rent. Related Articles:

the ps3 HDD is fine... and much larger and much cheaper than xbox 360 HDD's. and just think how much more reliable the ps3 HDD is compared to Xbox (RROD)

expecially since i cant store any videos on an external device, so if I upgrade my HDD to a larger size, i would need to call to download everything, and then pray nothing even happens? Well, this makes it clear for me, no more PSN purchases

I think most people learned their lesson with VHS and more so with Beta. Technology moves too quick. Only an idiot would sinks tons of money into such things.
Buying any DRM media is just plain dumb. Unless it's intended use it primarily once. For example, RENTING or buying a game. Then DRM is just annoying!

You said it brother - DRM sucks. That's why I won't buy Vista and I won't buy any movies from Sony's store.

I guess I'll stick to only purchasing PSN games. I don't like the idea of being stuck with data on my drive regardless of how much it's capacity is; if I pay for the video and it's tied to my account/PSN ID then I should be able to download it again at any time.

wow. thanks to whoever wrote this article. i was not aware that sony had a 44 inch dildo up their ass. i was actually thinking about getting some movies off of psn, but now im not going to. if you purchase a movie, and they dont even let you download it more than once after you legally purchase it, then the hell with it. what i probably would have done, is watch it once, delete it, then download it again once i feel like watching it again. thanks sony for shooting down my dreams once again.
also, what happens if your wireless connection drops out and you cant complete the download. my wireless drops out all the time when downloading from psn and i have to restart whatever i was downloading. so, i might have purchased a movie and never even got to complete the download and sony would tell me i cant get it but they sure as hell can take my money as much as they want. this service i guess is really only good for rentals because you can get hd, but even then, i dont know if it's really worth it.
fsck psn.

dude,do you even own a ps3 seriously if your wifi cuts out you can start from where it left off, you know the little bit says download management. where you can pause, resume or cancel downloads? my wifi used to cut out with my cheap crappy router but i never had to restart a download....although i completely agree that one time download is not acceptable. for those who think its the end of the world if they decided to upgrade there HDD and fear losing there films from PSN use the backup utility which the ps3 has.

» Just use Netflix
Netflix beats the Playstation video store hard. For under $20 a month I can get up to 3 movies in the mail at a time with a selection of around 100,000 movies ( that includes Blu-ray ) as well as view 10,000 anytime over the internet as an added bonus. It only takes about 1 business day to get your movies after that receive the last ones. It's hard to beat that deal. I wish Sony would though.

Why does everyone keep saying Sony only lets you download ONCE? The article says REDOWNLOAD ONCE. You get to download, DELETE then download AGAIN.
If you're going to cry about it then cry about it RIGHT ;p

one time courtesy i just got off the phone with sony and there is no such thing the only way to redeem lost movies is if your ps3 crashes and you take it back and lose them not because you deleted them you even have to fax a copy of the exchange receipe to the sony tech team from best buy or gamestop or where ever you exchanged it at

That's according to every news source I read.
Which doesn't mean much but the sources I read are smart enough to write their OWN words base on their own research.
