Silent Hill - Image 1

Agree or not with Christophe Gans' silver-screen adaptation of the Silent Hill series, you'll have to prepare for another visit to the misty town. Ain't It Cool News was able to chat with actress Laurie Holden (the cop in the Silent Hill Movie) on the set of Frank Darabont's The Mist (aw, how apt), and Holden confirmed that a sequel is definitely in products.

Quint of Ain't It Cool News writes: "We talked a little about SILENT HILL (she was the cop in the movie) and she told me they were going forward with a sequel, but that Christophe Gans hasn’t made up his mind whether he’d do it or not."

Talk about a sequel's been floating around since Gan's movie turned out to be a very mild box office success ($97 million worldwide). Resident Evil's had so many tries at being a Hollywood success, why not another one by Silent Hill?

Well, if they follow the story of the videogame for part 2, they can't miss. Silent Hill 2 was the scariest game ever made. I almost soiled myself many times whilst playing it. I remember being afraid to turn on my ps2 and start playing sometimes.
Let's just say i've got high hopes for this one.

There is chance they could follow through with doing the second games story because Pyramid Head (who they put in the movie) appears in the second game and he didn%u2019t die or they didn%u2019t show him dying or being killed off destroyed whatever in the movie. So if they really wanted to, they could have the sequal be somewhat based off the second game.

Oh thank God. I think this was the first movie based ona video game that was close to flawless. I mean yeah they added new stuff to it but they had to. Pyramid-Head is the man.

I'll definitely watch it, but I didn't really care for the first one (saying it's "flawless" is quite a big overstatement). It was interesting, but to me Silent Hill isn't really something you should tamper with, the original game story is fine and the movie departed from it too much (which I don't really understand, if the game's story is fine why change it?).

Hopefully this one will stay true to the second game's story, which is the best of them all.

I see what you're saying about maybe flawless is to much, I guess I'm just looking at it differently because look at the Resident Evil series, don't get me wrong, it's great. But they could make it so much better. Maybe because of money, but who knows. You can tell it's almost like the people that made this movie played Silent Hill, know the mood, and knew what it needed. There's just been a bad history of games turning into movies. And movies turning into games. What a vicious cycle. :P

okay so this has just made my day so much better :)
silent hill is my second favorite video game series (after metal gear) and i liked the first movie a lot. i didnt like how they changed the story and it could have been longer, but some things vere done great. music (game soundtrack, mostly #3), set designs and monsters (especially new pyramid head design) were perfect.

cant wait!

But I wonder... will he continue with SH3's story or mix it up with some SH2? I loved SH2 so I hope it gets it's time to shine.

 » That movie sucked

It was the only movie i have ever been to that when i made fun of it out-loud everyone laughed instead of getting angry. Then i looked around and everyone else was making comments on it too. easily the worst story ever written. The plot has more holes than britney spears' underwear. The dialogue was poorly written and poorly acted...and any movie that uses the last 20 minutes to explain the plot because it wasn't portrayed corectly sucks.

I thought the movie was boring.. zzzzz. wasn't scary at all, and the story too simple. Now it wasn't a "bad" movie... not like House of the Dead. But still, nothing special for me.

they took parts of story from all the silent hill movies... so i cant see where they can spin this off for a sequal without throwing the game out the window like resident ***** did... and i loved them games
