Nice set of tools to have when your coding for the next Gen. good job, this will definitely get more developers jumping on board.
Physx , maya, zbrush and UE3 are killer middleware(well UE3 is more standalone but, still)
This company is on a mission to deliver the real Next Gen experience. Everything from physics to graphics and gameplay.
so what, did they jsut acquire this stuff? does that mean the games currently being made are being made on poop middleware and/or self coded developers stuff?
poo!
ps3 still sucks
ps3 doesnt suck, u do, dumb fan boy..
btw nice toolz
nice. its good to see that sony is doing a lot of things to make sure we get the best for our money. keep up the good work sony.
ps. the UNREAL 3 engine is the best gaming engine of all time (visuals-wise as well as features and support)
i love UE3 as much as the next guy, but i wouldn't say its the best, it is quite amazing and has a really easy to use interface. But, graphically there actully lagging behind(not much mind you, nothing a patch to the engine can't fix) project offset and crysis in a few interesting graphical areas. But, this is just what i can discern from the feature lists, i've seen none running in an actual game setting or in final form and neither have you.

wish you would get to know your tools, at least know a premise behind them.
there is no real texture mapping tool they make the textures through photoshop. most of the time it's just part of a photo redone.
as far as middleware i would not consider maya, endorphin, renderware or zbrush middleware.
they are the basic modelling or animation or rendering programs that most companies use and really don't take alot to aquire. it's like having photoshop, ya really don;t have to have much to aquire it. nothing really special.
#8 the engine isn't what determines the graphics, it's how good your artists are.
most engines are about the same, but if you have crap artists your game will look crappy, no mattter how good it plays. then you can have a really good looking game but the game play sucks b/c the programmer sucks.
i have seen or dealt with a bit of the game engines and tools so i know how hey work, but ya have to wait to see how they are implemented in the console.
Easy 3D modeling softwares such as Maya is more then perfect for SDK kit. Starters can easialy learn experience with such program. Good thing to know...
Well, Maya is better than 3D studio Max......i think.
to let you know that the makers of 3d max bought out maya.
i would not say that maya is better, maybe for certain aspects in movies.
max and maya are both amazing programs, but one is more suited for games and the other is more suited for movies.
but alot more movies are being made with max now, and they have the new particle syatem that really rocks.
whay! Endorphin rules!
I hope games start to use it as it annoys me when motion capture is done so poorly...
HEre is a demo why PS3 + endorphin = good

Don't tell me that wasn't impresive?
You are incorrect,
The makers of 3DS Max were Discreet, which was bought out by Autodesk. Maya was created by Alias, which was also bought out by Autodesk. In short, the makers of 3DS Max did NOT buy out Maya
